Take Responsibility: Safety Drill

Today we conducted one of our state mandated safety drills. The type of drill we practiced today was a “Secure Protocol”. In this type of drill, we secure the building, and lock all outside access points (which our outside doors are always locked). This type of drill is used when there is a threat outside the building (ex. safety concern in the neighborhood). If students are outside, they are required to come inside. When the drill was announced, teachers shut their classroom doors and classroom activities continued uninterrupted. Once staff checked the building and determined that protocols were being followed, the drill concluded. We are happy to report that our staff and students did an outstanding job.

Always Growing: 5th Grade Safety Patrol

Members of our 5th grade take turns each month being part of our safety patrol. Our safety patrol welcomes students as they enter the school each morning and tells students good bye each day. In addition, they encourage our students to walk and make safe choices during arrival and dismissal.
