Marlette Elementary
September Update - September 18, 2026
Note from the Principal
Hi Parents and Guardians,
Sometimes parents reach out to the school about our math curriculum, iReady, and how "they don't teach math like they used to." There's some truth to that statement, but not completely true. Our iReady Math program is an inquiry-based learning curriculum. It is the idea that there are multiple ways to solve a math problem to get to the same answer. But what is being taught at each grade level has not changed much in the last thirty years. The Common Core Math Standards taught at each grade level can be found here: https://www.thecorestandards.org/Math/. If you are struggling to support your child at home, you can use websites like Khan Academy or searching videos on YouTube to help your child be successful. Also, the most important thing to do to promote mathematical success is learning math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to automaticity.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to call the us.

Student Attendance at School Events
According to the Marlette Elementary Handbook:
The school encourages students to attend as many school events held after school as possible, without interfering with their schoolwork and home activities. If student(s) attend a sporting event or other extracurricular activity at Marlette Jr/Sr High School or Marlette Elementary, they must attend with a responsible adult and that adult will be responsible for their supervision. They may be asked to leave if not watching the event. The school will continue to provide adequate supervision for all students who are participants in a school activity. Students must comply with the Code of Conduct at school events, regardless of the location.
