Weymouth Early Childhood Center
2025-2026
April 12, 2026
Good Morning,
We had a very busy and exciting week at WECC! Students enjoyed participating in Super Friend activities and did a wonderful job showing kindness, teamwork and following the listening rules.
Lifetouch was here to take class pictures, and we can’t wait for you to see them! Students looked wonderful and were so proud to show off their picture-ready outfits.
Our teachers continue to make time each day for outdoor playground play, whenever possible. With the chilly and windy weather, please be sure to send your child to school dressed warmly with a jacket.
We look forward to seeing many of you next week during parent-teacher conferences!

WECC Celebrates Special Olympics for the Young Child: Wednesday, 4/29, Thursday 4/30
Parent/Guardians are welcome to attend WECC's Special Olympics Young Athletes Program. This is an early childhood play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities. It is an inclusive sport and play program where children learn basic sport and locomotor movements such as running, jumping, balancing, kicking and throwing. Skills learned include: how to play with others, sharing turn taking and following directions.
This event will take place in our school parking lot. See below for the schedule.
Safety during 2:15 dismissal:
Many of you noticed that the Weymouth Police Department visited our school on Wednesday afternoon. We continue to review our dismissal and parking procedures to ensure we are maintaining the safest and most efficient practices for all students and families.
As a reminder, please keep the following in mind during dismissal:
Please do not block or box in our neighbors on Academy Ave.
Do not park on the crosswalk on Academy Ave.
Do not park on the corner of the driveway, as our vans need clear access to enter and exit. Parking here can create a bottleneck.
The lower lot at Town Hall is not available for family parking; however, the upper lot may be used.
Please closely supervise your child and hold their hand when walking through parking lots or crossing the street.
Students should not climb the chain link fence.
Only families with a handicap placard may enter the WECC main lot. Once in the main lot, please wait for a staff member to remove the orange cones before exiting. We do not want cars moving as families are walking to their cars when in the parking lot.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation. The safety of our students and families remains our top priority.
Have a great week!

Backpack Connections
How to Help Your Child Understand and Recognize Sadness
About this Series
The Backpack Connection Series was created by TACSEI to provide a way for teachers and parents/caregivers to work together to help young children develop social emotional skills and reduce challenging behavior.
Each Backpack Connection handout provides information that helps parents stay informed about what their child is learning at school and specific ideas on how to use the strategy or skill at home.
