What's Happening at Woodside?
Cultural Festival Fun!
What an amazing turnout and event! So many families (250 people) enjoyed crafts, dance, drums and food. HUGE thank you to all of the work our equity team put in, especially ELD Teacher Susan Parker and Innovative Facilitator Deanna who teamed up for the major organization of the evening. Enjoy some pictures from the event below:
CAASPP completed!
Most of our 3rd-8th grade students completed their state testing (CAASPP) this last week! We are excited to have 95% completion of all assessments (ELA, Math, Science, and ELPAC). Thanks and appreciation to our Intervention Teachers, Mrs. Lunardi and Mrs. Hatridge for organizing the assessments and make-up sessions! They will continue to call a few of the students that have tests to complete throughout this coming week. The results from these assessments will be available to families late in the summer (are not used for grades). Congratulations Cougars and thank you for your perseverance and hard work!
Coming This Week at Woodside...
Celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday!
Did you know that Mother’s Day has been celebrated in the United States for over 100 years? It became an official holiday in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson declared the second Sunday in May as a day to honor mothers. The idea came from a woman named Anna Jarvis, who wanted to find a special way to thank her own mother—and all mothers—for their love, care, and hard work.
Since then, families have celebrated Mother’s Day with flowers, cards, kind words, and time spent together. It's a chance to show appreciation to moms, grandmas, aunts, and all the amazing caregivers who support and care for us.
🌸 We wish all our mothers and special caregivers a very Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸
Thank you for all you do, every day.
Woodside's Got Talent!
Our school talent show, Woodside's Got Talent! will perform Thursday evening at 6:00pm in the MPR. Our performers have been practicing and look forward to entertaining the audience! They will have dress rehearsal on Wednesday directly after school before the performance on Thursday. Thank you Bridges for allowing this sharing of space! This year, the Woodside's Got Talent! team will also perform for students in an Assembly at 9:00am in the MPR. Thank you to Ms. Victor and Mrs. Holverstott for organizing this event!

Strong Finish for Middle School Track Team
At the District Championship meet, 6 of the 8 Cougars got medals: Xavier 3rd long jump and 5th 100m. Girls 4 X 100 4th. Amelia 4th shot put. Jay came close in her two events, as did Arlen in her two solo events. Mel came in 6th in shot put, 1 place out of a medal, and many got PRs in their events. All of them gave it their best and should be proud no matter where they finished. Thank you to our Cougar Track Coaches Cerecedes and Vogt!
LatinX Club:
On Tuesday, club members had a Cinco De Mayo celebration during our lunch club. We invited 5th-grade students to join us for lunch and Loteria. The students had a great time together, as we welcomed the 5th graders to join us for the club next year. Thank you also to the LatinX students who helped out at our Cultural Festival booth, giving lessons on how to make paper flowers. The beautiful posters and decorations that students have been working so hard to create made the booth shine! It was a fun night!
This will be the final week for Nature Watch and Project Optimism after school clubs.
Lunch time clubs remain unchanged: Student Senate & Latin X on Tuesdays, Glee Club on Wednesdays, Diversity Club and Design Club on Thursdays.

Message from Principal Wahl about the 2025-26 School Year
Dear Woodside Community,
It is with mixed emotions that I share with you that I will be leaving Woodside School for the 2025-26 school year, as I applied for and accepted the position as the new principal at Del Dayo Elementary, pending board approval. Woodside has been my home for the past 2 years, and it has been an honor to serve this community.
The district will engage in a rigorous selection process to find your next principal, and I would encourage you to share your input as a valued member of this community. I will continue to work hard for the remainder of the year, and am committed to working with the new principal to make the transition seamless.
I would like to thank each of you for being a part of this community. You are what makes Woodside a great place to be!
Sincerely,
Beth Wahl
