MLC Through The Month
June MLC Recap
June Highlights: A Month Full of Energy, Exploration, and Fun!
June was an unforgettable month at The Big Mystic, packed with energy, creativity, and connection! We had so much fun continuing our Boyz 2 Men and Girls Group clubs, where kids built confidence, shared stories, and strengthened friendships. As we wrapped up the season, we celebrated with brand-new essential kits for each child — a special send-off filled with useful items they were thrilled to receive!
Our weekly Fit Move Mondays kept everyone on the move and exploring. Each Monday, kids got the chance to walk to different spots, enjoy the outdoors, and discover new places together — a great way to stay active and curious. Another big hit this month was Super Beats Sports, where kids tested their timing skills by hitting baseballs at just the right moment to score points. The competition was friendly but fierce, and the energy was through the roof!
This month also brought out everyone’s creative side in fun new ways. Kids practiced landscape and hand illusion drawings, showing off their artistic talents and learning fun techniques to bring their ideas to life. In our DeiLabs, young innovators got hands-on with technology — coding robots to move and perform tasks. It was an exciting mix of learning and play that left kids feeling proud and inspired.
With so many great choices throughout the month, there was truly something for everyone. Whether kids wanted to get active, explore tech, express their creativity, or just relax and recharge, June was packed with opportunities to grow and have fun. We’re so proud of our Big Mystic kids and all they’ve experienced so far — and we can’t wait for what’s next. Here’s to more fun, more memories, and more magic this summer!
MLC KID AND STAFF HIGHLIGHTS
Sadun and Kayon!
This month we are excited to announce our Kid and Staff nominees: Sadun and Kayon!
Sadun has been a huge help during homework time, always encouraging kids to stay focused and do their best. He’s also quick to step in during choices whenever support is needed. Thanks for being such a reliable and positive role model.
Kayon has really improved with his homework and is putting in great effort. On top of that, he’s an awesome friend to his peers always kind, supportive, and fun to be around. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, Sadun and Kayon, for your hard work, dedication, and constant willingness to help and support everyone this month!

Kayla And Daniella
Big Congratulations to this months Staff and Kid Super Stars: Daniella & Kayla
Daniella: Daniella started the summer with a positive attitude and was ready to rekindle all of the friendships she made last summer. We missed Daniella throughout the school which was sad but we are so happy that she is back. We cannot wait to see what she brings this summer with her funny jokes and her great art skills.
Kayla: As an OG, Kayla is always on go and is always pulling something fun out her pocket. Kayla is prepared for anything and is always willing to go above and beyond for the younger kids and the staff around her. We are always proud of her and are going to miss her when she goes back to school but we we will have the most fun summer with her before that.

MELC JULY ACTIVITIES
Produce in Season
July is here, and summer is in full swing which means even more delicious fruits and veggies are ready to enjoy! It’s the perfect time to bring some fresh, seasonal flavor to your meals and snacks.
We’ve been encouraging the kids to keep trying new things, and July’s harvest gives us so many chances to explore. Look out for juicy peaches, plums, nectarines, and melons they’re sweet, refreshing, and perfect for hot days. You’ll also find summer veggies like corn, tomatoes, eggplant, and summer squash popping up everywhere. They're great grilled, tossed into pasta, or served fresh in a salad.
We love seeing our students discover new favorites and get excited about healthy choices. Here's to tasty bites, big smiles, and sunny adventures. Happy July!

Recap of June Community Events
Adventure at York’s Wild Kingdom
Families from our community came together for a joyful and adventure-packed day at York’s Wild Kingdom in beautiful York, Maine! With sunny skies overhead and excitement in the air, participants had the chance to explore the vibrant zoo, wander through the serene and colorful Butterfly Kingdom, and enjoy classic amusement park rides along the scenic coastline.
Thanks to the support of SHA, families benefited from discounted tickets and convenient transportation, making the trip more accessible and enjoyable for all. Whether it was seeing exotic animals up close, playing games, sharing laughs, or simply spending quality time together, the day was filled with unforgettable moments and cherished memories.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this special outing such a success. Your energy, smiles, and community spirit truly made it a day to remember. Thank you for being a part of it we can’t wait for the next adventure!
5th Annual Community Unity Basketball Game
We kicked off the summer with our 5th Annual Community Unity Basketball Game, co-hosted by MLC and the Somerville Police Department at the Mystic Housing Basketball Court. The event brought together Mystic youth and local police officers for a fun and friendly game, building bonds through teamwork and sportsmanship. Everyone enjoyed pizza after the game, and each participant received a free Community Unity t-shirt as a memento of the night. It was a great way to celebrate community and connection!
