Welcome to a New School Year Slate Ridge Families!

It is hard to believe we are getting ready to begin another school year. This will be my fourth year at Slate Ridge, and I am truly proud to serve our students, families, and the entire Slate Ridge community. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growth, and partnership.

As we prepare for the first days of school, please take a moment to review these important reminders:

First Days of School

  • August 20: Students with last names beginning A–K will begin.
  • August 21: Students with last names beginning L–Z will begin.
  • August 24: All students will attend.

Kindergarten parents may walk their child into the building on August 20, 21, and 24. Beginning August 25, parents will not be permitted to enter the building unless they need to visit the office.

Arrival

Our doors will open at 8:20 a.m. and close at 8:30 a.m. Students arriving after 8:30 will be marked tardy. Please plan accordingly so students have enough time to enter the building and get settled for the day.

Dismissal

Dismissal begins at 2:55 p.m. All students and staff will be dismissed by 3:15 p.m. There is no supervision available after 3:15, so please be mindful of dismissal times and make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

Bus Riders

Transportation information has been updated in PowerSchool and should be available as of today. There will be a Bus Safety Agreement at the transportation table on August 18 back to School Night. All parents are required to sign the Bus Safety Agreement.

Car Riders

If you have not yet received your car rider card for your windshield, please stop by the school to pick one up. This year's car rider card is YELLOW. Students will not be released to an adult in the car rider line without the required car rider card.

Walkers

If your child will be a walker, a Walker Agreement must be completed. This agreement will be included in the packet you receive at Back to School Night on August 18.

Thank you for helping us establish safe, consistent routines from the very beginning. Your partnership makes a tremendous difference, and I am excited to welcome our Slate Ridge families back for another great year.

Here’s to a successful school year filled with learning, connection, and growth. Welcome back, Slate Ridge!

Warmly,

Dr. Parlar, Principal
