The Vocal Power Class rocked out to songs from different decades. This unit focuses on an intense, energetic delivery! Rehearsals in both Music Theatre Workshop classes continue to amaze! Sixth Graders started their Harmony unit this week, reviewing their ukulele chords and strumming. In this newsletter I have attached some stellar examples of Melodic composition form the sixth grade! Some of the students posed for pictures after performing their melody. They had the choice to sing, play recorder, or play bell sets.

On October 24, the Actors' Studio and Broadway Stage Dance Clubs will meet in the lobby for pictures. Please check the image to make sure that you are on the pass. If you see one of your friends names missing, please email me: tbroeker@d64.org

Show Choir and 7/8 Singers are taken in the Winter.

This group will be volunteer based and there will not be a membership fee.

Here are some fundraising events Emerson is planning:

-Karaoke night ($5 admission) November 10 3:00 - 4:00 in the MPR

-Mary Poppins Movie night (sell concessions) December 1 3:00 - 4:00 in the MPR

We're going to be raising money to support students in choir and the musical

(offset the cost of Music in the Parks, t-shirts for choir, and items purchased for the musical).

If you're interested in volunteering/supporting planning, please let me know!

It takes a village and I hope we can work together to make the D64 Vocal Music & Theatre Programs the best they can be!

7/8 Singers meets on Thursdays from 3:00 - 4:00

For all members who will be participating in Cross Country, Basketball, or another conflicting Fall activity, there is a morning version from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. on Fridays before school!

The first rehearsal was FANTASTIC!

Show Choir meets every Friday after school during the first and third trimesters! Our Show Choir performs throughout the Chicagoland area and competes in the annual Music in the Parks festival!

Please pay the choral fee at myschoolbucks.com

Thank you!

Only 32 of the 60 scripts have been returned! Any cast member who does not return their script will not be eligible for a script next year.

In the past, Leads have written a note to the next person to play their role. They give advice on how to portray the character, handle performance jitters, and reminisce about their favorite moment. Keep the tradition going!

Return your script so that future productions will have additional scripts!
