HAPPY NEW YEAR!
GMS Information and Announcements
Welcome Back, GMS Families!
We made it through the holidays! The decorations are packed away, the leftover cookies have finally disappeared (we’re not saying where), and now we’re all back to the exciting world of middle school.
This week, we’re dusting off those alarm clocks, finding where we left our backpacks, and trying to remember what a “routine” feels like. Middle school is hard enough without the extra challenge of convincing your brain that yes, 6 a.m. is a real time. But hey, we’re all in this together—students, parents, and teachers alike.
As we settle back in, a few reminders to keep us healthy and happy:
- Sleep is your friend. Nobody does their best work while half-asleep (except maybe your dog).
- Hand sanitizer and soap: Use it like it’s going out of style. Flu season doesn’t care about your New Year’s resolutions.
- Stay hydrated! Water > soda. Sorry, but science says so.
Middle school is a rollercoaster of emotions, awkward moments, and math homework. It’s tough, but it’s also where the magic happens. (Okay, maybe not magic, but definitely some cool learning and life skills.) Whether it’s a new friendship, a small victory in the classroom, or just figuring out your lunch number again, every step counts.
Let’s all remember to show up, work hard, and be there for each other. Together, we can make 2025 off to an incredible start! Let’s hit this week running—well, maybe walking briskly.
Here’s to routines, resilience, and making it through Week 1 with an, "I'm good bruh."
💚
Message from Dr. Adams
Dear Greene Devils,
As we step into the new year, let’s carry forward the energy and commitment that make our school such an incredible place. This is the perfect time to reflect on the progress we’ve made, refocus on our goals, and recharge for a wonderful second semester.
My surgery and recovery provided me with the unique opportunity to know what it's like to not be able to do what you love. Not being able to walk into GMS each day left me missing our Greene Devil family something big! I am excited to be back at GMS this week and am feeling so MUCH better than before surgery. I truly appreciate everyone's support during my surgery and recovery. I can't thank our GMS staff and especially GMS assistant principals, Mr. McCall and Mrs. Philbeck, for everything extra they did while I was absent. We are truly blessed at GMS with an amazing team.
Here’s to a fantastic 2025—let’s make it count!

- All notes (parent or doctor) must be submitted within 2 days of the student returning to school
- Notes can be submitted in three ways:
- Online (GMS website>Menu>Parents>Online Absentee Reporting). This is the best method to ensure notes aren't 'forgotten' in backpacks.
- Dropped-off in the office
- Placed in the black mailbox in the commons (near the office windows/trophy case).
- Chronic Absenteeism (missing more than 10% of days total, even if all absences are excused with doctor's notes) is cumulative for the entire school year.
