Principal Corner
Thank you families for giving us time on Monday to work collaboratively as a staff on growing in best practices in instruction. We traveled to many different buildings to work with teachers across the district. We were able to plan for the next 2 months of Number Corners, develop new strategies in literacy specifically with vocabulary and word study, tighten our programs in special education, dive deeper in instruction with the related arts team, look at data for our English Language learners, discuss the use of science notebooks, and learn about the functions of behaviors. These days with grade levels and departments are important for us to continue to be the best educators for your children. Thank you for this valuable time.
We will have our last parent teacher conference this week along with 3 opportunities to learn about the reading requirements for students in Kindergarten through third grade. Please join me in the library. There will be 30 minutes of FREE babysitting provided by GLHS' National Honor Society in the gym during those times.
Finally, I want to let you know that Mal Miller, our day time custodian of 10 years, will be joining GLHS as a manager! We are excited for his leadership position although we will miss all he has done for our building , students, staff, and families throughout the years. Please make sure to read his message to you below!
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Nikki Miller

A letter from Mr. Mal Miller
Dear Students, Families, and Staff,
I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the past ten years working at Chapelfield Elementary. Serving the students, the staff, and the community has been the greatest time of my life, and it has been an honor to watch the students grow and learn over the years.
With mixed feelings, I am excited to announce that I will be accepting the new manager job at the high school. While I will surely miss the students and staff at Chapelfield, I am looking forward to this new chapter in my career.
I want to assure you that even though I will no longer be at Chapelfield, I will still be back from time to time, and I look forward to seeing all of you at the high school.
Thank you for making the past ten years so rewarding and memorable. I will always cherish the memories and friendships that were made during my time at Chapelfield Elementary.
Sincerely,
Mr. Miller.
Chapelfield students, families, and staff will miss Mr. Miller. He has made a great impact on the school. We are in the process of hiring a new custodian. At the time, we will have a building substitute. Mr. Miller begins at GLHS on Wednesday, October 4. We are so proud of him and wish him well.
Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 10
