The Sheiko Weekly Update

Dear Sheiko Families,

What an exciting week of learning at Sheiko! Our 4th graders had an unforgettable field trip to the Henry Ford Assembly Plant, 3rd graders transferred their lettuce plants into our hydroponic garden, and kindergarteners have started practicing for their upcoming concert. Meanwhile, our students have been working hard on MSTEP—and we’re capping it all off with our Glow Party dance tonight!

Next week, our “Green Team” is headed to the Detroit Zoo to accept our award for becoming an official Green School! Thanks to the amazing efforts of our staff and students—from using refillable water bottles and cleaning up the playground to designing Earth Day posters—Sheiko continues to lead the way in caring for our planet.

Our Big Announcement this week: 4th grade students will participate in an exciting instrument “Petting Zoo,” where they’ll get to try out the band and orchestra instruments offered in 5th grade. They’ll also learn more about our fantastic choir program. It’s a great opportunity to spark some music-filled conversations at home!

We hope you’re enjoying all the rich learning experiences Sheiko has to offer. Have a wonderful weekend, and as always—Goooooooo Lakers!

Warm regards,
Blaine McDowell

Field Day is Friday May 23rd — and it’s always one of the most fun and exciting days of the year for our students! It’s a day packed with games, laughter, teamwork, and memories they’ll be talking about all summer.

We’re sharing this early so parents have plenty of time to plan ahead and hopefully take time off work if needed. Field Day runs best with lots of helping hands, and we’ll need parent volunteers to help run stations and keep things moving smoothly.

If you’re able to volunteer — we’d love to have you join us and be part of the fun! Sign up via the sign up genius below!

Thank you!!
