Elementary Parent Pick-up
Thank you to all parents for using the new parent pick up procedures with the double lane.
In addition, we will be sending home yellow signs with the oldest elementary child in each family. Please display these in your passenger side windows during pick-up starting next Tuesday. This will allow our staff to have students ready as cars pull forward.
As a reminder, Elementary parents cannot arrive before 3 PM.
You may be asked to go to the end of the line if you are here
before JH dismissal ends!

Tell us about your family.
I’ve been married to my husband, Kevin, for 10 years, and we have two wonderful kids—Declan (10) and Maggie (8). Our home is lively with our dog, Sammy (2), two cats, Izzy and Missy, and Declan’s hamster, Hammy. Kevin and I met while living in Chicago, and after having two kids under two, we decided to settle in Volo. Kevin was born and raised in Ireland, so we love traveling there to visit his family. I grew up in Libertyville and have two older brothers, while Kevin is the fourth of five children.
What is something that makes you really proud?
I’m incredibly proud of my kids and the loving home we’ve built together. I’m also proud of my passion for learning and teaching, as well as the professional accomplishments that have come from pursuing that passion.
What is your favorite hobby?
What’s a hobby? LOL. When I do find the time, I love listening to audiobooks while doing something creative like working on a puzzle or painting.
What is your favorite food?
I can never say no to really good sushi.
What is something you have learned lately?
Most of my recent learning has come from my master’s program in principal preparation. It’s been eye-opening to see just how much behind-the-scenes work, planning, and care go into ensuring that all students are safe, successful, and enjoy their school experience.
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I’d be an otter. They’re playful, social, and love the water, just like me!
What is your favorite thing about Prairie Grove?
Without a doubt, it’s the people—the students and staff. The kids at Prairie Grove work so hard, and the teachers are incredibly kind and compassionate. It’s such a special community to be part of.
Carly Splitt-5th Grade Teacher
1. Tell us about your family.
My family is amazing. It consists of my mom and my dad and my three brothers. Two of them are triplets with me and my other brother is just a year younger than I am. We are all very close and I am so very proud of my family.
2. What is something that makes you really proud?
Besides being proud of my family, I am very proud of both my students and the soccer team I coached this year. They all work hard, show responsibility, and always try their best. I see their growth every day, both in the classroom and on the field. I am so lucky to be their teacher and to have been their coach.
3. What is your favorite hobby?
My two favorite hobbies are reading or spending time with my family. I love getting into a new book and learning the stories of the characters. I also love spending time with my family and cheering on my brothers as they play or coach football.
4. What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is sushi.
5. What is something you have learned lately?
Recently I have learned with my students how to build a hydroponic garden out of recycled materials and how to make sure that it is sustainable. A few of the flowers in the gardens are even growing.
6. If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
If I were an animal I would be a golden retriever because I am loyal, full of energy, and love being around other people.
7. What is your favorite thing about Prairie Grove?
My favorite thing about Prairie Grove is how welcoming the community has been and my fifth grade team. I have enjoyed getting to know my coworkers, the students, and families.
