National Lunch Hero Day: May 1

Today is National Lunch Hero Day, so we want to take a moment to highlight our super WHS nutrition staff who provide students two meals per day with smiles and enthusiasm!

Every school day, this incredible team feeds over 600 Wenatchee High School students in just 30 minutes, working out of a kitchen originally built in the 1970s and running food service carts to every corner of the building to make sure every student is fed. The logistics alone are remarkable. The fact that they do it with warmth, hustle, and a smile every single day? That鈥檚 heroic. Thank you, WHS Nutrition Services team. You are our heroes!

FFA Plant Sale Teaches Horticulture & Business Skills

Wenatchee FFA welcomed the public to its annual Plant Sale this week! The plant sale is a long-standing community tradition, and for many of the students behind the counter, it鈥檚 their first job, their final exam, and their introduction to the professional world.

Through the annual Plant Sale, horticulture classes at Wenatchee High School teach students business skills alongside plant biology. Under the guidance of FFA advisors like Hannah Schneider and the Ag Department team, students in the Horticulture and Plant Sciences program manage every stage of the "product life cycle."

The sale is modeled as a cooperative, a unique structure that lets students earn a share of the profits based on their hours worked and the success of the sale. The experience is paying off: the skills being honed in the greenhouse are the exact "soft skills" local employers are looking for, from inventory and logistics, to customer service. No matter what these students pursue after graduation, their time in horticulture provides them a "Career Connected" foundation!
