The Hub
Parent Conference Information
We want to get this out for all the planners in the building...
- September 30 is officially Parent Conference Day BUT if you need/want different days/times, just communicate your schedule to your families
- Official hours are 8-4 that day. The Office Staff will be on campus until 4. If you want to provide evening hours for conferences, swing your start time to later. As long as you are working 8 hours, and as long as you understand the office will not be around after 4 to let parents in, you can adjust your times as needed.
- The Guiding Coalition meeting is from 8-9. Leaders, your conferences can begin at 9.
- It is not required, but I encourage you to offer virtual options. Parents can meet on Google Meet during their lunch breaks --> this might lead to better engagement!
- All families will be offered a conference. Those who do not respond after multiple emails will be documented.
- Turn in your sign up forms to Leech in October.
- Communicate conferences with support staff as early as possible. They might want to attend!
- If admin are needed at a conference, please let us know ASAP. We will do our best to be there!
📣🚨LAST CALL!!!🚨📣
Also, in case you missed Padilla's email, we are needing staff participation prior to Wylie Way Day! Please complete the Google Form with who you think fits the listed superlatives. Here is the note from Padilla explaining what to do: "You DO NOT have to fill them all out. You can pick and choose. The only thing I ask is that you match at least one superlative to each person on your team, including yourself. But if you want to match every staff member to a superlative, then that's awesome! Also, if you think a person fits for multiple superlatives, then write them down for multiple. You can also write in more than one name for a superlative."
Fun Run is Coming!
We were able to keep lunch times the same. Specials will have the modified schedule below.
Drills!
We have one more fire drill to complete and then we are DONE for the fall semester! Our second fire drill will be next Thursday at 2pm.
Action Required:
Murphy PD ran our lockdown drill a little differently yesterday. Office staff (including me and Leech) were required to go to our safe spot (the vault). Three police officers cleared the building. What we found after giving the all clear was that some classrooms were not checked and cleared. If you have feedback from yesterday's drill, please email Brunson. In the future, if your classroom has not been checked during the lockdown drill, text Brunson, Leech, and Padilla and we will make sure to help.
Parking Cones!
In the Parent Smore, you will see reminders for arrival and dismissal. We are getting students into school and dismissed from school in record time, and the parking cones are a major contributor! PLEASE do not move the cones from their spots. We keep them close together on purpose so that cars cannot change lanes. This means you may have to turn tightly into the left lane when exiting the front parking lot. If you see them separated, please help us out and move them back to their original spot. Thanks!
WylieISD Connect Campus Incentives
45% of our families have signed up for WylieISD Connect! We have created campus-wide incentives for reaching different sign-up percentages (see flyer). Please promote this with your class.
We know change can be hard, and this is one more thing for you to learn. Grade levels are doing an amazing job trying this new feature out...check out the stats below! It really is very simple to communicate with your parents. Since we are encouraging parents to download the app, it would be great if you attempted to communicate through this platform.
Relational Skills Week 4 Lesson 9/3-9/6
Here is the link to the relational skills lessons:

Lesson 4: Recognizing Strengths
K-4 Lesson: K-2 TEKS: 1(A)describe how personal choices lead to personal actions.
This week the students will pretty much just draw something that they enjoy to do in order to recognize their strengths. It does not cover any different or new TEKS, so if you need to catch up on the 1st or second lesson, I'd suggest doing that instead.
Grants for Teachers
As you prepare for professional development within the next couple of weeks the Education Foundation would like for you to announce and remind teachers that Grants for Teachers is now open and will close at 10:00 pm on September 30th. Teachers can apply for individual grants up to $1,000, campus grants for up to $3,000, and district grants for up to $5,000. The link to Grants for Teachers is included in this email for you share with your campuses.
Event Sign Up- Domain 4
In T-Tess training we talked about recording your attendance for special events for Domain 4 of T-Tess. Here is a link that will stay in the Smore. If you attend something, simply type your name under that event. Remember you get credit for set up and clean up. We know everyone has busy lives, sometimes the season you're in just doesn't line up with school events. We just want to give credit where credit is due!
Teacher Tidbit
Need a reflection sheet for students who receive a classroom referral? Check out this resource that SEAS 637 uses! (401 has great resources for the older kids!) Have the student complete it before starting a preferred activity. Remember, holding kids accountable to make things right is a big part of the process!

Shout-Outs
-
Shout out to Mazo, Addington & Towery for taking the time to let me talk through grade level curriculum, so I know best how to serve their students. Sometimes it’s hard being the “lone ranger” of your position on campus & I’m so lucky to work alongside some of the best where I feel comfortable asking anyone here for ideas! Also shoutout to Mazo for fixing my smartboard on the fly! -TC
Christine Monroe for her willingness to work on a social story with two kiddos during recess. She provided a meaningful consequence to these students!
Gurski for sharing station tubs with Dailey – this really helped differentiate station work for a student with unique needs
Sankey, thank you for being willing to supervise our new dismissal traffic flow. Thanks for taking the dirty looks with a smile and a wave.
Miller for always jumping in to help prep tiger tracks before school – she’s a lifesaver on chaotic days!
Sonia and Melissa, thank you for managing students in the office when admin needs to step away.
A BIG thank you to Mr. Carter-Brown for making a beautiful visual in the cafeteria for 3rd grade to help us get our tigers to the right specials every day! #WhatDayIsIt -KG
Team shout out! I love our lessons! They have been so intentional and purposeful! I’ve been enjoying them so much, and I appreciate all the time and effort each person has put into making them great!! -AP
Have a shoutout? Send them to Brunson/Leech and we will add it to our smore!
