Liberty Creek Families,

Fall is officially here, and October is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month at Liberty Creek! Our students have settled into their routines, and classrooms are well underway with teaching, learning, and building strong classroom communities. We have lots of events and activities coming up, so be sure to keep an eye on our calendar and weekly communications.

Our HUGE Fall Fundraiser kicks off September 30th! This year, our goal is to raise $35,000 to support PTO events, family fun activities, field trips, classroom enrichment, and other opportunities for our Explorers. We would love to see every student registered, even if fundraising isn't something your family is able to participate in. Every registration helps us build excitement and work toward our schoolwide goal.

And, of course, we need a little extra motivation! If we reach our $35,000 goal, we will celebrate with a schoolwide GAME DAY! Students will be invited to bring games from home and spend time playing with friends. Not only does this fit perfectly with our Get in the Game: Every Player Counts theme, but it also gives our Explorers a fun opportunity to practice important social skills like taking turns, cooperation, problem-solving, good sportsmanship, and including others. Let’s get in the game and reach our goal!

We also want to give a big THANK YOU to our families for your patience and support during arrival and dismissal. With more than 500 little Explorers coming and going each day, everyone's attention to our procedures makes a big difference in keeping students safe.

Speaking of safety, we are very fortunate to have a strong partnership with the Liberty Lake Police Department. It is completely normal to see our officers in and around Liberty Creek. They may be in the parking lot, high-fiving students, patrolling the area, checking in with staff, or simply spending time connecting with our Explorers. Please don't be alarmed if you see a police vehicle parked in front of the school. We are grateful that our officers make Liberty Creek a regular stop and are such positive partners in our school community.

Thank you for continuing to make Liberty Creek such a wonderful place for our students. We are looking forward to a fantastic October!

Sincerely,

Alisha Alsaker

Principal

Parents, we need your support to help ensure a safe and positive cross country experience for all of our student-athletes. Please remind your child to listen carefully and follow their coaches’ directions during practices. With so many moving parts at meets, our coaches must be focused on preparing runners, managing the course, and accounting for every child before and after races.

After your child completes the race, we ask that you please come pick them up so they are in your care. Please do not wait until the end of the meet. We only need one parent to come up to the bleachers to sign them out.

If a student continues to struggle with following directions or participating during practices, we may need to ask them not to participate in the meet. Thank you for partnering with us to make cross country a fun, safe, and successful activity for everyone.

We are incredibly lucky to live in such an amazing community! Travis Scott, one of our Liberty Creek parents, has organized a Bike Bus for families in the Rocky Hill area.

So, what is a Bike Bus? Think of it like a school bus—but on bikes! Students and adults meet at designated locations and ride to school together as a group. It is a fun way for students to connect with friends, enjoy some fresh air, and get their bodies moving before the school day begins. Physical activity before school can also support students’ attention and learning.

Click on the link for more information, including the route and how your family can participate!

Please note: The Liberty Creek Bike Bus is a parent/community-organized activity and is not a Central Valley School District-sponsored event.

October 21st-23rd: Parent/Teaher Conferences October 21st-23rd: Parent/Teaher Conferences

Looking ahead, October brings parent/teacher conferences, a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s strengths and set meaningful goals for the year. Conferences are designed to be collaborative, and we encourage you to share your hopes for your child’s growth.

Please note that report cards are no longer issued at this point in the year, as we have transitioned to semester grading periods. The first reporting period will end in January.

Conferences will take place October 21-23, and students will not attend school on these three days. Please be sure to make childcare arrangements. You will receive a sign-up link from your child’s teacher on October 9th. We ask that each family sign up for one conference time only so we are able to meet with every family.

In the best interest of your child, conferences are designed for parents/guardians to attend together. Please note we are unable to schedule separate conferences unless there is a court order requiring it.

We look forward to meeting with you in October to celebrate your child’s progress and partner together on goals for the year ahead.

October 30th: Halloween Parties October 30th: Halloween Parties

This year we will be having our Halloween party on Friday, October 30th. Teachers will be communicating the time of the party in their class newsletters.

Students CAN wear their costume to school. Please make sure it is appropriate for school and it is easy for them to get off to use the bathroom. We ask ALL masks and weapons stay at home and DO NOT use face painting.

All treats MUST be store bought (please check for any allergies in your classroom). We also ask to check with the teacher before you send any treats. Otherwise, we will need to send them back home.

All volunteers must be approved before participating in classroom activities, so please do not wait until the day of the event to seek approval, as we cannot process them quickly enough.

Additionally, due to safety and space considerations, we can only accommodate a certain number of volunteers in each classroom at a time. We ask that you reach out to your child's classroom teacher prior to showing up on the day of the party.

LEGO Robotics LEGO Robotics

We are excited to launch our second season of Elementary LEGO Robotics at Liberty Creek and Liberty Lake Elementary Schools in January. We are currently seeking a LEGO Robotics Lead and coaches. Student registration will be coming soon.

We are currently looking for an Elementary LEGO Robotics Lead

We are seeking someone who would be willing to help oversee and coordinate the elementary portion of our LEGO Robotics program. With the league now spanning 1st–8th grade, it is simply too much for one person to oversee the entire program. This person would help organize and support our elementary teams and coaches.

Please email aalsaker@cvsd.org or jacey.harder@gmail.com

LEGO Robotics Lead Application

🤖 LEGO Robotics Coaches Needed!

The number of students we are able to include in LEGO Robotics depends greatly on the number of adults willing to coach. At this young, beginner level, we have found that a 1:2–1:3 adult-to-student ratio works best.

No robotics experience is necessary! Training, resources, and mentorship will be provided. We are simply looking for adults who enjoy encouraging kids, helping them problem-solve, and keeping them engaged.

Our LEGO Robotics season will run from January through April. We will hold a coaches meeting in early November to connect, share information about the upcoming season, answer questions, and begin planning together.

If you are interested in coaching or helping in any capacity, please complete our interest form. We would love to have you join us as we continue growing LEGO Robotics for our young Explorers! 🤖💚
