Some Chorus Lines

Today, Chorale hosted the Glenbard West Advance Treble Choir for an informal exchange- we sang warm ups together, each director worked with the other's choir, and we enjoyed donuts after all that hard work!

Our Fall Choral Concert is on Wednesday, October 21st and will feature a wide array of genres performed by our curricular choirs. 7:00pm in the Auditorium and open to everyone.

Middle School Festivals will take place at the end of October and beginning of November. We will host 8th graders from HMS, Butler, and CHMS.

Lastly, over 70 students and parents will be traveling to New York City at the end of February.

A huge thank you to Music Boosters for supporting student musicians through half scholarships for this trip as well as numerous voice lesson scholarships. You are making a huge impact in the choir program!

Harp Beat

The second year for HCHS Harp Ensemble has begun!

This year, Harp Ensemble is being offered during both Philharmonic Orchestra and Concert Orchestra, and we currently have five talented harpists participating.

We are especially looking forward to Orchestra Festival, where our Hinsdale Central harpists will have the opportunity to perform alongside middle school harpists. It will be a wonderful celebration of our harp students and their musicianship!

Harp Ensemble is also working toward collaborating and performing with other musicians within the Hinsdale Central Music Department. I am so proud of our harpists as they continue to grow not only as harpists, but also as confident and collaborative musicians.

In addition, Harp Ensemble has been invited to perform at a couple of events outside of school. We are excited about these opportunities and will share more details as they become available!

Strung Together

So proud of our string musicians. We had huge number of students sign up to submit ILMEA auditions - 29!! Best of luck to all of them.

This year we have another student-teacher. Mr. Dickson is from ISU and he will be conducting and leading the orchestras during rehearsals. He is doing a great job with the students!

Addition of orchestra parapros: We have already hired a double bass parapro to run sectionals with our bassists. We are also anticipating an addition of a violin parapro to join us very soon for violin sectional coaching.

This year Orchestra Festival will be on October 22. HCHS orchestras will be performing music from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Mark your calendars. Our first Orchestra Concert of the school year will be on Thursday, November 5th. Let's support our hardworking musicians and fill up the auditorium!

A Big Thank You to CHIPOTLE

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported the Hinsdale Central Music Boosters fundraiser at the First DINING DOLLARS. The fundraiser earned a total of $301 for the Music Boosters. A special thank you to Janie Lahmann, for volunteering to coordinate the fundraiser.
