Miller Elementary Weekly Update
For the Week of September 14, 2026
Hello Miller Families!
Happy Friday, Everyone! We had another busy short week at Miller Elementary and we are gearing up for a fun-filled "HOMECOMING WEEK" in the Aurora City Schools! The elementary buildings have teamed up to create a spirited week for all our "Little Greenmen." You'll see that we have created easy spirit days that your child has the option to participate in leading up to the big game on Friday night. Please use the calendar shown above to know each of our themed days, starting on Monday, 9/14.
As a reminder, we have our School Picture Day on Wednesday, September 16th! We want to reassure you that we help all children feel comfortable in front of the camera. We will help to fix their hair, adjust any outfits or capture that perfect smile. If your child has PE on Wednesday, please pack their tennis shoes so they can make a shoe change sometime during the day. Purchasing a photo package is not required, however, you can order pictures online to avoid any paperwork sent to school. Your order needs to be placed within 48 hours of picture day so that Riphco Studios knows your preference of background color and the specific package. You can also use the envelope that was sent home last week to select a package and send in any money to complete the purchase. If you have any questions about picture day, please feel free to reach out to us, or Ripcho Studios. Pictures usually take at least 6 weeks to arrive. If you order a package with a composite photo, the composite will be delivered early winter once we have retake picture day. If you have any questions, please see the details below about school pictures.
Have a great weekend and GO GREENMEN!
Kindly,
Maria Goodman

Remembering Judy Dolezal
Judy’s impact on our school cannot be measured simply by the number of years she served. She became woven into the fabric of our school, into our traditions, and the countless lives she touched along the way. Although Judy was not a member of our staff this school year, her presence and influence remain with us. The lessons she shared, the relationships she built, and the care she gave to children and colleagues will continue to live on in our school for years to come. We always look to one another and say, "What would Judy do?" if we are ever stuck and need a fresh perspective.
Those of us who had the privilege of working alongside Judy know how fortunate we were to call her a friend and colleague. We are better educators, and our school is a better place, because Judy was part of it. Her legacy will continue through the students she taught, the educators she influenced, and the many people who were lucky enough to know her.
On Thursday, your child may have shared they had a substitute teacher so our staff could have the time and space they needed. This information was not shared with your children, but we did end our day doing exactly what "Judy would do," we had a school wide DANCE PARTY! We knew that Judy was smiling down on all of us as we celebrated her life and the impact she has had on us all.
Buster the Bus Assembly
Buster the Bus came to Miller Elementary this week! We held our first assembly to review bus expectations and all the important reminders about bus safety. This is a great time to remind your child about these important bus rules that we all need to follow to ensure a safe and smooth ride to and from school each day!
- Stay seated in your seat
- Keep a safe body
- Use a quiet voice
- Save eating and drinking for home
We know it can be new and exciting riding the bus without a seat belt! It's important to remind your child to stay seated, facing forward and sitting on our bottom. The seats are designed to keep them safe while traveling. Your child's bus driver may tell you about a bus incident or they will communicate with us at school. If necessary, we will practice and reteach bus safety rules with your child, so we can ensure a safe ride for all. Thank you for your continued support!

Upcoming Tuition Reminder
This is a friendly reminder that we have sent out tuition letters to any families that have an upcoming payment due on September 15th. These letters came home in your child's take home folder this past week and will be coming home with our preschoolers next week.
Our total tuition cost for preschool is $2000 and full-day kindergarten is $2500. Many families have paid the initial down payment and we collect the next set of fees by September 15th and the final payment will be due on January 15th.
If you sent in a check for the September payment, thank you! We will be running credit cards that you have listed on file after September 15th. If you have changed your credit card information or would like to change the card we have on file, please call Erin Toler at 330-562-6199 and she's happy to get the new information. As a reminder, the tuition information along with our tax-id number for taxes can be found on the tuition contract you signed for preschool or kindergarten enrollment.
Teaching School Expectations
Has your child come home talking about earning a fuzzy pom? Did they bring home a reward ticket? We have officially kicked off teaching our learners about school expectations. At Miller, we work to help our children develop skills to be respectful, responsible, and problem-solvers. However, what does that look like and sound like in our school building? Each week we target a skill that supports the development of social and emotional skills that help all children be a member of a safe and fun learning environment. We will teach them a new skill for the next 6 weeks that helps them be safe, happy, and ready to learn.
Our teaching and reinforcing of school expectations and appropriate choices has continued with helping children develop PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. We are working on "I CAN TRY FIRST, THEN ASK FOR HELP or I CAN STOP, THINK, and MAKE A GOOD CHOICE!" These two skills support every child to become more independent as well as develop skills of being responsible with their decision making. Learning and practicing these two expectations will help your child develop confidence, self-advocacy and resiliency!
Updates From our School Counselor - Mrs. Ambrosia
Hello Miller Families,

Financial Needs: Miller Elementary partners with our PTO to assist families with financial needs. Miller Attendance & Transportation Reporting Form
To report an absence or change your child to a car rider or bus rider, please click the button below or scan the QR code magnet that we will pass out at Open House. This can be done from any device and your reply will be sent immediately to our secretary, Mrs. Toler. We get a notification each time an entry occurs.
We operate exclusively through parent communication about change of transportation. If your child believes they will be picked up and you have not notified the office, then we assume they are to ride the bus or regular form of transportation. We will call you if there is any confusion between our office records and your child.
If your child will be absent, you will use this form to report the absence along with the reason for the absence. We are working really hard to reduce the amount of phone calls, emails, or notes that we receive. We ask that you reserve those modes of communication for emergencies only. Thank you in advance for your help and let us know if you have any questions at all!
