A Message From the Principal

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

October is here! The students looked adorable all dressed up for Picture Day this past Friday. It always makes me reflect when I see 5th graders taking their pictures and remembering back when they were Kinders taking pictures for the first time!

The changes are all around us! At Academy we are always looking at doing the very best at everything we do. We take pride in all that we have to offer our students and are always in the state of continuous improvement. As my mentor used to say, "change is inevitable, growth is optional". This past month, we collected data and over the next few weeks we will be working with that data to review our school improvement plan and calibrate our teaching and learning targets to optimize growth. This past week, our school council met and looks at data and discussed improvement/growth action steps to help see our school year super-successful.

In addition, we'll continue to focus on student belonging, school spirit and developing many great events and activities along the way. Our goal is that our students and staff love coming to Academy every day and giving it their all! 100% every day...the Academy Wey!

We have a dentist team coming to Academy on October 16th. Forms were sent home on Thursday from Nurse Ali. Please return them if you would like to use this service.

Fun Run Info

The Academy Fun Run kicks off October 6! Did you know that we've already raised $6840???

Attendance Matters!

Attendance plays a big role in a student's learning & achievement in school. Being here every day is important. Check out our interactive daily attendance board-looks like we have a tie for the top spot! Students ask about every day as they are on their way to the cafe!

Grade 4 has been on a roll...an attendance roll that is!!! They are 1 star away from being the first grade to reach 5 stars.

The Dream Catcher is almost here

Keeping it Safe with the Weymouth PD and Safe Routes!

This past week, we partnered with Safe Routes to School and the Weymouth Police Department to look at our arrival and dismissal practices. Our goal is to ensure a safe start to finish school day. They will be supporting us in making sure our streets, sidewalks and campus is safe for all. As always, there is plenty of room on the Top Lot for cars!

We'll be making some adjustments based on their recommendations but I also want to thank our community for taking things extra slow in the morning and afternoon as it's all OUR responsibility on campus and around our community.
