Message for the Week:
Message from Mr. Tejkl
Celebrate during the tough times...
Good morning!
I apologize for the delay on getting this out but yesterday was a blur with morning meetings, afternoon of basketball, and celebrating with my family the ending of the SRC/O Basketball League. Thank you to everyone who made this possible and such a great success! As we move through the rest of this month, it is important to celebrate the good things and remember that we all go through tough times. We are all battling different things that weigh on us differently.
Celebrating good moments, no matter how small, is essential during tough times. These moments serve as reminders that even in hard times, joy and progress still happen. Whether it's a small victory, a kind gesture, or a moment of peace, recognizing these positives can uplift spirits and build resilience. Challenges may test our strength, but finding reasons to celebrate—be it personal achievements, supportive relationships, or simple everyday joys—helps maintain hope and motivation. In the darkest times, these celebrations become beacons of light, guiding us forward with renewed determination and gratitude.
It is also important to lift those up around us that may be struggling or could be dealing with those difficult times. We all want the best for ourselves and our peers but life isn't designed that way. We all fall short and fail and although that is part of life, it still stings and can suck. It is important to remember what Brené Brown said about empathy and sympathy; "Empathy is an skill that can bring people together and make people feel included, while sympathy creates an uneven power dynamic and can lead to more isolation and disconnection. It’s an unfortunate outcome given that sympathy is usually coming from a good place."
"Because often when people are facing a challenge or dealing with a difficult situation, they aren’t looking for a magic response that will fix everything. They may be looking for someone who can help them feel like they aren’t alone in solving the problem. They may be looking for someone who has been through a process or challenge before. They are definitely looking for a connection, and that’s what empathy is all about."
Have a great rest of your Monday and stay warm out there!
Quote of the week to reflect on:
"Good times are a reminder and a reward for dealing with the difficult and challenging times we all go through. The trick is to celebrate the good times in advance of the difficult times. Always remember, good times await you after the difficult times pass."
James A. Murphy III
Sincerely,
Tucker Tejkl
