Art

This week in art grade 1 read the book, The Dot, a book that celebrates any marks you create as an artist should be celebrated. Students created their very own dots and enjoyed watching them glow under the black light.

We are excited to celebrate great attendance at Melville!

At the end of each month, we will look at our attendance data and put the names of students in Grades K–4 who were at school for the entire day each day of that month—meaning they were not late or dismissed early—into our Attendance Prize Pod Raffle.

Our raffle winners will be announced during morning announcements! When a student’s name is selected, they will come to the lobby and use our special gumball machine to choose a prize. If they get a STAR, they will receive an extra-special prize from our Treasure Box! ⭐

We will continue this Attendance Prize Pod challenge each month!

Our goal is simple: to celebrate students for being at school, ready to learn, and making the most of their time at Melville. Of course, we understand that children need to stay home when they are sick. When your child is well enough to attend, we encourage families to make school attendance a priority.

We also want to remind our students that getting ready for school is part of their job! Each morning, students can help their families by getting dressed, gathering their belongings, eating breakfast, and getting ready to learn.

We are looking forward to celebrating our students and their commitment to being

present, ready, and part of the Melville Family! 🐳💙
