๐ซ Whatโs Happening at School
A note from the Principal...
Dear Abraham Lincoln Families,
As we move into our fourth week of school, I want to thank you for helping make drop-off and dismissal run smoothly. Your support truly makes a difference in keeping all of our students safe. Here are just a few reminders:
-
Drop-Off: To ensure student safety, parents should remain outside the front and back gates at drop-off. If you need to come through the gate, please check in at the office first. Our staff are on duty each morning and will make sure your child gets to the right place.
-
Playground Access: For safety reasons, only school staff are permitted on the playground during school hours. If you need to visit the school for any reason, we kindly ask that you begin by checking in at the office.
-
Traffic Safety: Weโve noticed some cars not fully stopping at the Forest Avenue/Somerset Avenue corner, which also has a crosswalk. Please take extra care to stop completely, follow the crossing guardโs directions, and avoid U-turns in this area.
Thank you for being such important partners in creating a safe, welcoming environment for our students. By working together, we can make sure every child begins and ends the school day safely.
~ Mrs. Ireland

๐ก Helpful Tips & Resources for Families
September is School Attendance Awareness Month
Building strong attendance habits takes teamwork, and small steps at home can make a big difference:
-
Use positive encouragement. Celebrate good attendance with simple praise or a special family activity at the end of the week.
-
Make school a โnon-negotiable.โ Just like brushing teeth, going to school becomes a daily expectation when itโs treated as part of the family routine.
-
Stay connected. Encourage your child to join school clubs, activities, or teams. When students feel involved, theyโre more excited to be here every day.
-
Keep communication open. If your child says they donโt want to go to school, listen closely. Sometimes worries about friendships, learning challenges, or other concerns are at the root. Let us know so we can help.
-
Model the value of showing up. Share stories about how being present at work, sports, or commitments has made a difference for you โ kids notice when we take showing up seriously.
Together, we can help every student see that showing up every day matters for both learning and belonging.
