Headteacher's Bulletin
20/03/26 - Edition 91

Highlights of the week
Mr Lisseman - Headteacher
Dear Parents & Carers,
There has been a real sense of creativity and reflection across Twickenham School this week, with students engaging in a wide range of experiences both in and beyond the classroom.
Our Year 8 students enjoyed two visits to the Whitton Library this week, developing their love of reading and making the most of a calm and inspiring learning environment beyond the classroom. Alongside this, a group of students travelled into central London to see Wicked, experiencing the magic of live theatre and gaining a deeper appreciation for performance and production.
Our GCSE students have also been working hard, with PE moderation taking place this week. Students demonstrated real focus and determination, and it was excellent to see the high standards they continue to achieve.
A real highlight of the week has been our student-written production, We Are Displaced. Performed last night and again this evening, the play has been incredibly moving and thought-provoking. The fact that our students wrote and brought this powerful piece to life themselves makes it even more special, and it has certainly left a lasting impression on all who have watched it.
Students in Years 9 to 11 also took part in a mental health session led by a guest speaker. The session provided valuable insight and encouraged open and honest conversations around wellbeing, reinforcing the importance of looking after ourselves and one another.
This morning, our Year 10 students aspiring to be Head Boy and Head Girl delivered their speeches as part of the selection process. The standard was exceptionally high, and it was inspiring to see the confidence, ambition and commitment shown by all candidates.
We would also like to wish a very happy Eid to all members of our community who are celebrating.
Student Bulletin
Each Monday morning in tutor time, students and their form tutors review the weekly student bulletin. This is a round up of all the important information, notices and reminders that they need to know. The bulletin is also posted on the screens around school so they can refer back to it at any time.
Eid Mubarak
Message from the PTA
Now the sun is shining a little more some of us may be having a spring clear-out. The Friends of Twickenham School may be able to take some of that off your hands. We are looking for School Uniform in good, useable condition. We are also gathering raffle prizes for future events - these need to be new or as good as new items that you think someone else would appreciate winning. No food or items with use by dates please. If your company is able to support us by donating a prize then please get in touch directly twickenhamschoolpta@gmail.com
Why not join us on Saturday 11th April to celebrate Spring - we are looking for volunteers to help park our friendly rugby fans. Come along, have a cuppa and chat with other parents in the sunshine (no guarantees about the weather but everything else will definitely happen!)

House End Ball Tournament: Final Results In!
Heads of Houses - Ms Horta, Ms Farrell and Mr Giordmania
This week’s House End Ball Tournament, brilliantly organised and run by our dedicated Sports Leaders, brought huge energy to lunchtime every day. Students from all houses turned up in impressive numbers to take part, cheer, and enjoy the fast‑paced competition.
Across the week, teams showed fantastic teamwork, determination, and resilience as they battled for every point. The atmosphere was lively, supportive, and full of house pride.
After all matches were played and points tallied, here are the final standings:
Final Results
- 1st Place – Mandela: 620 points
- 2nd Place – Farah: 550 points
- 3rd Place – Curie: 470 points
A huge well done to Mandela House for securing the top spot, and congratulations to all students who took part. Whether competing or cheering from the sidelines, your enthusiasm made the tournament a fantastic success.
A special thanks go to the Sports Leaders, whose organisation, refereeing, and professionalism ensured the event ran smoothly all week.
This week in PE
Mr Hayes - Head of PE
It has been another busy week in the PE department, and we are looking forward to a packed schedule of fixtures across football and netball. Please see the details below for next week’s action and a new extracurricular opportunity.
House Endball for comic relief:
What a brilliant atmosphere at the MUGA for our House Endball competitions this week! It was fantastic to see over 100 students from Farah, Mandela, and Curie representing their houses with such energy and pride across all year groups.
The level of engagement and sportsmanship was outstanding, making it a fitting way to celebrate our final house events. A huge well done to everyone who took part and earned valuable points for their house!
Extra-curricular Spotlight: Richmond FA Trials
We were delighted to welcome Richmond School FA this week, as several Year 7 and 8 boys took part in a trial day for the opportunity to represent the Richmond district. The boys conducted themselves exceptionally well throughout, demonstrating outstanding behaviour, determination, and dedication. They made a strong impression on the Richmond School FA staff, and we hope to see many of them representing Richmond district in the future. Well done to all involved.
Extra-curricular Spotlight: Netball
Our Netball squad showed incredible resilience this week, putting in two gritty performances against very tough opposition. Despite the physical and tactical challenges posed by both opponents, the team remained composed and fought for every ball until the final whistle.
A special mention goes to our Teachers' Players of the Match: Emma and Melody, both of whom led by example and showed fantastic determination on the court. Well done to the whole team for their hard work and sportsmanship!
