A Message from the MUHS Leadership Team
Dear MUHS Students and Families,
This time of year is always busy, but it's full of many joyful moments. It was fun to welcome 8th graders to the school for Move Up Day last week. Big thanks to Brooke Jette and her amazing team of Peer Leaders for creating an enthusiastic welcome. Looking ahead, we are excited for Senior Week and the festivities it brings, culminating in Graduation next Saturday. We are still looking for a few parent volunteers to help out with Project Graduation. You can join in the fun with us -- all night long!
Warmly,
Caitlin Steele, Principal
Ben Weir, Assistant Principal
Sean Farrell, Activities Director
Julie Pettis, Student Response Coordinator
Announcements
2026 Yearbooks are here!
All students who pre-ordered a yearbook should pick it up from their advisor. There are still a few yearbooks left and you can buy one by stopping in the library with cash or a check for $60 or order the MUHS Yearbook online, then pick it up in the library.
PROJECT GRADUATION 2026 (June 6 and 7)
PROJECT GRADUATION cannot happen without the support of you, our parents. We are still in need of additional volunteers, especially during the morning hours.
Be sure to sign up on the following form, follow the instructions, and get the process started for the background check. Sarah Johnstone will handle questions about the volunteer approval process. Any questions specifically about Project Graduation should be directed to George Rooney, Project Graduation Coordinator
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Month!
Help us celebrate our Teachers & Staff all month!
1. Share an Appreciation: It's Teacher & Staff Appreciation Month at ACSD. Help us celebrate them by sharing a shout-out or appreciation with this form (by May 31, 2026).
2. Make a Nomination: Help us nominate the next Teacher or Staff of the Year. Each year in August, we recognize an Elementary and Secondary Teacher with our Annual Outstanding Teacher of the Year, and staff with the Barbara Whittemore Support Staff Award. Fill out this form by May 31st 2026 to help us nominate someone.
Academics
Language Acquisition
Spanish DP 2 students in Ms. Bailey’s class spent Tuesday morning in the kitchen. Among the dishes prepared were Alfajores and Torrejas de Nata, a recipe from the book Like Water For Chocolate, which HL students read in preparation for their IA. A special thank you goes out to Jonathan Kafumbe and Callan McDowell for taking the time to prepare the dulce de leche the night before, and for coming in early to make the Alfajores!
Athletics
Postseason Playoffs
Postseason playoff brackets are expected to be released by Sunday afternoon. Once pairings are announced, we will update each team’s webpage to reflect the playoff games. Please check the team websites for the most accurate game information.
For our senior student-athletes and families, we have requested that our postseason games not be scheduled on Wednesday to avoid a conflict with the Senior Raft Race. However, postseason scheduling is determined by the VPA, and we do not have control over final game assignments. We are hopeful they will do their best to accommodate our request.
Thank you, and good luck to all of our teams as they enter postseason play.
School Counseling Updates
2026-2027 School Schedules
The School Counseling team has been hard at work to get the master schedule for the 2026-27 year up and running! Earlier this week, counselors began meeting with rising seniors and juniors to resolve scheduling conflicts that students may have. Students should check the board outside the School Counseling Office soon and often to see if their name is listed, and then make an appointment to see their counselor with Sarah Kemp. If their name is not listed, that means that they will be able to get all of their requested courses and do not need to meet with their counselor!
