Dear Parents and Guardians,

To help students and families navigate the AP journey, students were invited to join our AP Exams & Info Schoology Group using the access code ZMRB-K6JT-ZKT3J. This group provides essential AP-related resources, which can be found under the "Resources" tab, including:

  • A Student and Family Information Sheet
  • Links to RevTrak for exam payments ($67 per test) (AP Exam fee deadline is October 18th).
  • AP exam dates
  • Additional AP updates

If your child has not yet joined this group, please remind them to do so. It is critical for them to access this information and select which exams we will order on their behalf. AP Exam Decision Week! Becca Bang, our AP Coordinator, visited AP classrooms to collect students' exam choices. To test or not to test, students may be eligible to earn college credit pending their score and the policies at their prospective colleges!

Do not let cost be a barrier. Reduced pricing and scholarships are available for students who qualify. For more details, refer to the Student & Family Information Handout.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Becca Bang at bbang@northfieldschools.org.

Principal Update: Parent-Teacher Conferences- October21st Principal Update: Parent-Teacher Conferences- October21st

zoom_out_map

Dear NHS Students, Families and Staff:

Parent-Teacher Conferences offer us a great opportunity to engage in important dialog about the progress of our students. The NHS Staff will host parent-teacher conferences from 3:30 -7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 21st. I have included a few things to think about in preparation for a successful conference with your child's teachers. Please take the time to preview Skyward grades and chat with your child to determine which teachers you'd like to conference with in a couple of weeks.

Date: Monday, October 21

Place: Upper and Lower Cafeterias unless otherwise specified.

Time: 3:30-7:30 pm.

Report Cards: Parents should access students schedules and grades on Skyward.

Conference Structure: Limit your conferences to approximately 5 minutes.

Traditional Parent Teacher Conferences will be CAFETERIA-STYLE DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS. Please plan for on/about 5 minutes. Individual conferences may be requested by teacher or parent/caregiver throughout the school year per the 4 hour reallocation from family engagement. Tables are set up with each teacher’s name posted and arranged in alphabetical order. A diagram will be shared prior to the night of conferences.

The type of questions you might want to ask teachers:

  1. How is my child doing?
  2. Where is my child headed academically?
  3. How do you evaluate learning in your classroom?
  4. How is my child doing compared to their peers?
  5. How can we stay informed about our child's progress?
  6. What must my child do to improve?
  7. What can I do to help my child be successful?
  8. Is my child making adequate progress?
  9. What can we do at home to support learning?
  10. Does my child work well with others?

Additionally, the admin./counseling team will be offering a Parent Information Sessions:

Session I: 3:30-4:15 pm

Option A: (Media Center Main) Addressing hurdles to success (academic performance, attendance, mental health).

Option B: (Media Center Lab #1) Post Secondary Planning, Financial Aid process

Session II: 6:45-7:30 pm:

Option A: (Media Center Main) Overview of NHS Systems, What is Raider Time?, Effective use of Schoology and Skyward

Option B: (Media Center Lab #1) Post Secondary Planning, Financial Aid process

We will host parent-teacher conferences again on February 24th, 3:30-7:30 pm. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns via email at sbaier@northfieldschools.org.

Sincerely,

Shane Baier

NHS Principal

Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten. Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years".

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.
