All Night Grad Party Planning
SHS has an annual tradition of an all-night party for our graduates, organized and hosted by parents. This year the party will be held on the evening of graduation on Friday, May 31st. We need all hands on deck to pull off this celebration! Interested in helping? Here are a few ways:
- Sign up to help set up or help at the event. Please sign up by filling out your info on this form. Our school district is requiring that all volunteers in our buildings pass a two part background check. Once you complete the sign up, you will be sent info for completing the background check. We do want to get a jump on this to complete it so that we are ready to go by the time May comes around, so please sign up asap.
- Join the planning committee if you'd like to help even further. The committee will meet next on Wednesday, March,6th at 6pm in the SHS Library Conference Room. Parents of underclassmen are encouraged to join the committee to learn more and be able to carry on this tradition. I promise you, you can take on as much as you are comfortable with and it is a great way to mingle with other SHS parents.
- Support: Birds Bar will be hosting a meat raffle on March 27th at 6pm. All proceeds go toward the party fund. The more that can be raised, the better experience we can give the students this year, and also start a nest egg for next year.,
- Donations: If you know a businesses or individual that would like to make a donation, please connect with Nicky Wilson at nickyw2433@gmail.com and she can assist you.
This event is a really awesome tradition that is unique to SHS. Thank you for any way you are able to help this fun and safe way for our students to celebrate!
PTSA School Board Candidate Forum
Our PTSA is hosting their 3rd annual School Board Candidate Form on Wednesday, March 20th at 6pm in the SMS Cafetorium. This event will be live streamed on iFan. To submit a question to be asked to the candidates, complete this anonymous form.
Volunteers
If you plan to help out at Superior High School, please visit the link below and complete the 2 PART process. If you need assistance with the fee associated with the background check, please email leann.egnash@superior.k12.wi.us and she can help you. We do not want this fee to deter you from making a positive difference at our school. You can specify in your application if you want it to include multiple schools within our district. This check is valid for one year from the date it is complete.
Night 2 of Spring Conferences - Tuesday, March 5th
Hidden In Plain Sight
Hidden In Plain Sight exhibit will be set up during conference night. This is an opportunity for parents, teachers, and others who work with adolescents to experience and explore a mock environment of a teenager and learn to spot signs of possible substance use and risky behavior. Stop by the library conference room to view the exhibit and learn warning signs. Since this program is for adults only, Pledgemakers and Project Reach Out will be available for students to do an activity while they wait for you.
Help for SHS Clubs
SHS has a wide assortment of clubs held during Advisory time. This can be the time when students meet with groups such as Pledgemakers, Student Council, Spartan Spin, DECA, Black Student Union, GSA, FBLA, and more. Beyond those groups, there are also SO MANY more opportunities to sign up for an activity during advisory including cooking, ping pong, welding, relaxing activities, and time for crafting. Here are a few "clubs" that can use help with supplies, with their Amazon Wish Lists linked:

Mental Health First Aid Training
1 in 5 teenagers in the United States will experience a mental health challenge by the time they are 18 years old. Our juniors were recently given the opportunity to take part in a three-day training course, which shows them how to recognize the signs when others are facing mental health and substance use challenges when they first emerge. 64% of teens who experience mental health challenges don't seek help. The goal of teen Mental Health First Aid is to teach our students how to support and connect their friends and peers with trusted adults and resources within our community. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, juniors worked with our Social Worker, Jane Larson, along with Extension-UW-Madison trainers Tracey Henegar and Katie Stenroos, to receive a certificate and volunteer hours. Thank you to everyone who participated.
If you or anyone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, you may call the Suicide & Crisis hotline at 988 at any time for assistance.
