LOCS Updates

Superintendent's message
The start of the year creates new routines and challenges for school staff and families alike. When these challenges arise, please work with our staff who are closest to the problem, and therefore the solution, as we are committed to the success of our students. Our staff has worked hard to prepare the buildings for our students and all the bond projects were completed on time and ready for the first day. There are projects that are continuing, and on the projected timeline, that we will continue to see progress throughout the calendar year. Many thanks to the community for the support of our Bond Projects making our district safer, stronger, and smarter.
Our work on the District Strategic Plan continues with the collaboration of many across the district. It is exciting to be part of a focused, driven, and caring team of Educators. I look forward to seeing our Dragons in their classrooms, competitions, and throughout our community events.
Go Dragons!

Homecoming Parade (Convertibles wanted!)
The Lake Orion Community Schools October 2 Homecoming parade -- organized by the LOHS Leadership class -- is looking for community members who own a convertible and are willing to drive the Homecoming Court during the parade. They are looking for seven cars and would need the owner of the car to drive the car.
They are also seeking parade participants as well from groups connected to LOCS.
If anyone is interested and able to help, please reach out and email the Lake Orion High School leadership group.
Information Technology
For students in grades 6-12 there is an OPTIONAL device protection coverage available for purchase. You can find out more information on the “optional” device protection coverage on our website.
Lake Orion Community Schools strongly encourages families to purchase the protection coverage. Please check with your building administrator if you need financial assistance. Protection coverage can be purchased navigating to the Device Protection Coverage page and then click on Registration Form to sign up. The sign-up window will be available for several weeks until all middle school students are assigned their 1:1 device.
Enrichment Services
The Lake Orion Community Schools Enrichment Services Department would like to refine its class schedule to most appropriately suit the community and Orion-area residents. Please complete this survey to provide important feedback for us to enhance the program.
More information about the Enrichment Services Department and its current programs is available on the department webpage.
Safety and Security
- Students are asked to report safety concerns immediately. Students must also understand that any attempt at humor -- verbal or digital -- about potential violence is unacceptable and could be prosecuted by law enforcement. Reporting peers' concerning social media posts and verbal conversations by using the confidential reporting tool OK2Say or contacting the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office (248-858-4911 or email OCSO@oakgov.com) plays a major role in assisting with safety.
- The district administrators continue to assess and implement safety and security measures, some visible, others unseen, to keep the buildings secure and students safe.
- Important law enforcement contact information and district safety information is located on the LOCS safety and security page.
