Phase III - Distance Learning Procedures/Student Belongings

Greeting WKE Families,

We hope this newsletter reaches all families finding strength in each other as we get through this uncertain time TOGETHER! Thank you for all you have done to support your students and the teachers during this challenging time. We commend you for ALL you are doing - we give you "two thumbs up and a pat on the back"! WKE is certainly proud of you! We are very thankful for your continued patience and flexibility as we work to find the best way to engage your families to show how much we miss and love everyone!

Per the orders of the Governor, school building will be closed for the rest of the school year. Instruction will still take place as it has in the past. This week will end our Phase II instruction. Our Phase III instruction and Distance Learning Activities pick-up will take place next week. Please see the information below.

Phase III Distance Learning Packet Information

Beginning Date: Monday, May 4, 2020 - Friday, May 22, 2020

Drive-Thru Pick-up Times for Learning Packet AND Student Belongings:

Monday, May 4, 2020 beginning at 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. AND 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

REAR BUS LOOP - Please watch for the signs

Parents will be responsible for picking up the learning packets and student belongings by our drive-thru service. You will give us the following information: name, grade, teacher. A member of the school staff will bring the packet/packets to your car. We encourage you to work with your family, friends and neighbors to pick up packets for those who are not able to come to the school.

Medication

If your child has medication in the health room, please notify an administrator in the drive-thru service. We will be happy to bring it to you. You will need to sign for the medication.

Returning Packets

Phase I and II packets may be returned when you come to pick-up your Phase III activities. As a reminder, the information presented in our packets are for review, reinforcement, and extension of the skills already taught. No new learning will be presented in the learning packets.

Library Books

Many families have received notification of a library book that has been checked out by your student. We will have boxes available for book return on May 4, 2020. We are asking you to remain in your vehicle and a staff member will take the library book from you.

Lost and Found

A table with lost and found will be in the front parking lot. If your child has lost a coat, jacket, etc, you may choose to stop in and look through the items on the table. Please remember to practice social distancing while looking through the items. Any unclaimed items will be bagged and donated.

Parent Hub

We have added a Phase III Distance Learning Hub with all of the information located in the packets along with additional resources that may be accessed using the internet. This Distance Learning Hub is for information ONLY. Everything you will need is located in the packet. You may ask teachers for online resources if you have access to the internet. Teachers will not offer any online resources unless it is requested. We are promoting Distance Learning, not virtual learning or e-learning. If you have any questions, please contact the office for further assistance at 803-821-4500.

Thank you for continuing to partner with us through these ever changing times. We certainly honor your time and effort while you work to complete the Distance Learning Packets. We are in this TOGETHER! If you have any questions or need assistance with anything, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the school. We are here to help!

We extend our love and support to your family during this time. At The Knoll, we continue to Lead, Learn and Love! Keep you and your families well!!

From our hearts to yours,

From our School Nurse

Due to the continued closure of our school buildings in response to the current pandemic, we are making preparations for closing the health room. If your student has medication in the health room that will need to be picked up, school nurses will be available to return your student's medications to you from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2020 - Friday May 8, 2020. Our District Nurse, Amy Wood, may have contacted you already to schedule a pick-up time.

If the above date is not convenient for you, please call the school at 803.821.4500 and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. As a school, we are not allowed to store medication over the summer. To that end, if your student’s medicine is not picked up by Friday, May 15, 2020, the school nurse will have to destroy it. Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.
