Letter from the Principal

Greetings PPA students, families, and community,

The weather has really had us going through some ups and downs. More ups than downs! As well Black History Month is coming to a close and today was a day we won’t see for another four years. Today was Leap Day!

We have two weeks left in the fifth round of workshops and have two more rounds to go. Scholars should be able to share their growth in artifact attainment and if they can not explain this to you, reach out to their advisor or myself to discuss any concerns.

Seniors and senior families please check your emails on a regular basis. Ongoing information is coming out in reference to activities, updates, and more.

I want to share some upcoming dates so that you can begin to prepare for these events.

  • ACT- Mar 12, 2024 (11th graders only in the building)

  • Spring Break- March 25 - 29th, 2024

We are asking for families to check for missing and damaged Chromebooks AND return them to PPA’s main office. If you need to know how many Chromebooks your scholar has signed out to them, reach out to Ms. Kathy at 608-834-5503.

Take care,

Ms. Sconiers

Soul Wheelz: An Entrepreneurial Business workshop

Students taking this workshop are working toward a snack cart business in partnership with our current cafe. In addition to the logistics of practical business work, scholars have been investigating different aspects of entrepreneurship including creating their own “elevator pitches”, and understanding the delicate balance of economics: moral/ethics versus the art of manipulation of money.

CAFETERIA CONNECTION - FEBRUARY 2024

National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) - March 4-8

We will have special breakfast menus and

guest cooks in the kitchen March 4-8 to celebrate National School Breakfast Week - Stay Tuned!

Fun Fact:

Children who eat breakfast have improved moods and increased alertness throughout the morning. Children who eat a protein-rich breakfast report lower hunger for up to 4 hours. On average, students who participate in the School Breakfast Program eat a breakfast of higher nutritional quality than students who eat breakfast elsewhere.

We offer whole grain breakfast items every day that our students love! We also offer 100% juice and fruit with breakfast each morning along with cold Wisconsin milk. Students get their calorie needs met but we stay within the USDA requirements for fat and sodium. Kids need to start their morning ready to learn and they can’t do that without a proper breakfast. Remember that we have breakfast waiting at your child’s school every day!

On average, the SPASD serves 1200 breakfasts per day districtwide!

Spring Break Survey: If all caregivers could fill out this short survey that would be great! We are looking to see how many students we will need to reach out to if there are no spring break plans, and we would like to see if they are in need of any activity or volunteer opportunities.
