Festival of the Arts 2025
The Vista Unified School District’s Festival of the Arts, held on October 18, 2025, was a joyful celebration of creativity, talent, and community spirit. From 10:00am - 4:00pm, every VUSD school proudly showcased student artwork across 34 vibrant booths, while families enjoyed 18 hands-on craft activities. Three performance stages came alive with 33 school performances featuring over 1,100 student performers spanning elementary through high school. Audiences were treated to inspiring music from choirs, bands, mariachi and ukulele groups, a jazz ensemble, and a piano performance, as well as captivating theatre and dance presentations ranging from Hip Hop to Ballet Folklorico. At noon, T.H.E. Leadership Academy String Ensemble helped open the Official Welcome with a moving rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner. With participation from every school and district partners including SEPTA, VTA, and CSEA, the Festival truly reflected the unity and artistic excellence that make Vista Unified shine.
Progress Reporting and Parent Conferences
As parents and guardians, we all want to see our children thrive in school—both academically and socially. One of the best ways to stay connected to your child’s learning is by reviewing progress reports and attending parent-teacher conferences. These check-ins provide valuable insight into your child’s growth and give you the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and collaborate with teachers to support continued learning and development.
Progress reports are issued periodically throughout the school year to give you a snapshot of how your child is doing. In elementary school, reports highlight progress in key academic areas as well as your child’s development of the VUSD Learner Portrait attributes. In middle and high school, progress reports show how your child is performing in each class and their progress toward final semester grades.
Parent-teacher conferences and progress reports are important tools for supporting your child’s learning journey. They help you stay informed, connected, and actively involved in your child’s education. By working together, we can help every student reach their full potential and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Vista Unified Partners with Vista Fire Department for Red Flag Awareness
Vista Unified School District is proud to partner with the Vista Fire Department in a new community safety initiative — the Red Flag Notification Program.
Starting this month, all District schools will raise a red flag on days when the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag Warning, indicating critical fire weather conditions such as high winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation.
The red flag serves as a visible reminder for our community to use caution and remain alert during periods of elevated wildfire risk. These warnings help students, staff, and families stay aware of local fire conditions and support districtwide emergency preparedness efforts.
We thank Vista Fire Rescue for their partnership and leadership in wildfire prevention and community education.
For more information about Red Flag Warnings and other weather information, visit the National Weather Service Southern California Region website.
