MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - VICKI WHITE, MATH TEACHER AT STRONGSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Mrs. Vicki White has been involved with Strongsville City Schools for 35 years. Mrs. White has not only been a math teacher at the high school for 26 years, she has also raised 3 children in our community, served as a PTA officer, and worked with students as a tutor and substitute in her 44 years as a resident of Strongsville. Mrs. White earned her undergraduate degree from Adrian College and her graduate degree from Marygrove College.

“Strongsville students are the best! I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach in the community where I live and where we chose to raise our family. Oftentimes math is an intimidating subject for students and for their parents. I love breaking it down into small parts and encouraging students to come to me any time for individual help. My students keep me young and make me laugh. I frequently repeat my mantra, "There is no crying over math." and we find a way through the difficult problems. The ultimate goal for math teachers is to develop problem solving skills, encourage students to be resilient, and help them gain confidence in their own skills.”

“I work with the best team of colleagues at Strongsville High School. We are continually sharing ideas, dissecting our curriculum and finding ways to best meet the needs of our students. The Math Department is a great mix of experienced teachers, young teachers, and caring administrators. We all bring something special to the table and keep our focus on the students.”

Thank you Mrs. White for continuing to develop “Model Mustang” skills in our students and helping them conquer their challenges in math! #ModelMustang

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Strongsville Community Theatre - “Love Letters” (February 15-16 & 22-23)
This year, Strongsville Community Theatre is celebrating 30 years of quality community theatre entertainment! In addition to our upcoming productions, we are pleased to announce that we have been instrumental in supporting the establishment of a drama club program at Strongsville Middle School. The club will be announcing its first production in the next couple of weeks.

Further exciting news is that SCT will sponsor a summer youth theater program under the direction of Liz Jones and Brenton Cochran. Details will be shared soon on the SCT website and Facebook page.

Performances of "Love Letters" will be featured at the SHS Little Theater on February 15-16 & 22-23. Saturday evening performance is at 8 pm; Sunday at 2 pm. Click HERE for the event flyer. "Love Letters" was the very first play that SCT performed back in 1995. We felt it fitting that we bring it back to begin our 30th year celebration. Our spring production is "Barbecuing Hamlet," a delightful farce of a community theater dealing with putting on the famous Shakespearean tragedy; however, they run into several "tragedies " of their own. Of course, the show must go on! We think you will be highly entertained by both of these special offerings as we kick off our 30th year.
