Mustang Update
We are getting ready for Homecoming Week! As usual, Student Council has plenty of activities and plans for the entire week which helps us celebrate this fall tradition!
First, let’s meet the King and Queen candidates for 2024. Queen candidates are Khloe Gunn, Anne Toerber and Tessa Miller. Our King candidates are Jayden DeWalt, Logan Gray and Mack Shanks. Our candidates are determined by a vote of the student body – grades 9 through 12. Next week the student body will narrow their choice down to elect the King and Queen for 2024.
Tradition mandates that we participate in dress up days throughout the week. Monday will be Pajama Day and Tuesday the students can dress alike as twins! Wednesday is Met Gala Day which has been described to me as Artsy Glam! Thursday is Throwback Thursday with each class assigned a decade. Junior High students have been assigned the 1980’s and the ninth graders can have fun with the 1960’s! Grade 10 will dress like the 2020’s which to me seems like come as you are!! Grade 11 has to take a step back and dress like it is the 2000’s. The seniors have been given the entire century of the 1800’s! No, that is not a typo! Finally, on Friday, it is school spirit day with everyone getting into the fun and games by wearing their Mustang gear.
On Wednesday night, we will be hosting several events! Our FCA group will have a meeting and meal starting at 6:30 pm. Spikefest will begin at 7:00 pm and the Powderpuff game at 8:00 pm. The Homecoming Bonfire will be the last event of the evening with an 8:45 pm start time. Everyone is invited to join us for the fun!!
Friday is the biggest day of the week! We will be dismissing the students – district wide – at 12:30 pm! The Homecoming Parade will start at 2:00 pm and will be hosted in Blue Rapids! Game time, against D. West is 7:00 pm with the crowning ceremonies taking place at halftime. The Homecoming Dance will begin right after the game has concluded.
We are looking forward to a fun filled week that puts the Mustang Spirit on full display!
Congratulations are in order for two of our Mustangs that earned some very nice honors outside the school! Dustin Denton and Kinsley Gillig showed their cattle at the Kansas State Fair this past weekend and did very well! Dustin was Reserve Breed Champion in the Maine-Angus category and 4th place overall in Senior Beef Showmanship. Kinsley was Breed Champion in the Hereford category. Great job Mustangs!!
We hosted our first Strategic Planning Meeting this past Monday night. The purpose of these meeting is to plan for the future of USD 498. We have mailed out information to each household in 498 that will provide instructions on how you can provide input in the process. Please be on the lookout for this information in your mailbox!
Have a great week and Go Mustangs!
