A note from Ms. Edwards

Dear Jaguar Families,

Dear NYOS Secondary Families,

As we continue working toward a successful second quarter, we want to remind families that Q2 progress reports will be available next week. This is an important opportunity for students and families to review academic progress, celebrate successes, and identify areas that may need additional attention before the end of the quarter.

📚 Stay on Top of Grades and Assignments

We encourage all students to check their grades regularly in Skyward and take ownership of their academic progress. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review grades weekly and have conversations with their students about their progress.

To support student success, please remind your student to:

  • Check grades regularly in Skyward to monitor progress and identify missing assignments.

  • Submit assignments on time so teachers can assess learning and provide timely, meaningful feedback.

  • Use teacher feedback to correct mistakes, strengthen understanding, and improve future work.

  • Communicate with teachers when they need clarification, additional support, or help completing assignments.

Progress reports are more than a snapshot of grades—they are an opportunity to make adjustments, seek support, and finish the quarter strong. Early action can make a meaningful difference!

🗓️ Every Day Counts: The Importance of Attendance

Daily attendance is essential to student achievement. Each school day provides valuable opportunities for students to engage in instruction, collaborate with peers, ask questions, and receive direct feedback from their teachers. When students miss school, they may miss important lessons, guided practice, and learning experiences that are difficult to recreate independently.

We ask families to help ensure students arrive at school on time and attend consistently. Establishing strong attendance habits helps students stay connected to their learning, maintain academic momentum, and build the skills they need for long-term success.

Together, We Build Our Blueprint to Excellence!

At NYOS, student success is a partnership among students, families, and educators. By monitoring grades, completing assignments on time, using teacher feedback, and prioritizing daily attendance, we can work together to help every Jaguar reach their full potential.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we continue building a strong foundation for student achievement.

Blueprint to Excellence!

Warmly,
Rhori Edwards

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month on the National Day Calendar. The entire month is a reminder that there is a gruesome disease that effects 1 in 8 women and 1 in 1000 men in the United States. We are reminding people to be proactive about fighting this invasive disease and not to forget to support those who are suffering from breast cancer.
