Sunnyvale ISD E-News

On May 22, the last day of school, SHS seniors took their final walk through the halls of each campus, sharing smiles, some tears and saying goodbye to SISD staff and friends. Congratulations, seniors, on reaching this incredible milestone. We are so proud of all you have accomplished.

SHS One Act Play and teacher Daniel Gambill were named OAP 4A State Champions for their performance of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby in Austin, Texas on Monday, May 19. Congratulations!

Thanks to two generous grants from Sunnyvale Education Foundation, Mrs. Rinestine's fifth grade science classes have planted, watered, and grown their own vegetables this spring.

From planting the baby plants in April to harvesting on May 19, students have learned the life cycle of plants, what plants need to grow strong and healthy, the importance of water and ample sunlight, and how to harvest and wash everything for eating.

After students harvested, they prepared a delicious salad lunch for the campus office staff and administration as a special treat! These real world, hands-on experiences have not only created lifelong memories for students, but they have also led to many families starting gardens of their own at home!

Sunnyvale Middle School was all fun and games during the annual Field Day event on Wednesday, May 21. Whether scoring points in toss games, bouncing through bounce houses, belting out their favorite karaoke tunes, or creating masterpieces with sidewalk chalk, students soaked up time with friends and had their first taste of summer fun.

Sunnyvale Middle School students celebrated the end of the school year with awards ceremonies for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Each student received a grade-level completion award, with many earning additional recognitions for their achievements. Congratulations to all of our Raiders for their hard work and dedication this year! Enjoy your summer!
