Principal's Message

Thank you to our students, families, faculty, and staff for making the start of the school year such a success. While this season brought several major adjustments, including transitioning to our new student information system and implementing the state-wide policy on internet-enabled devices, our community has adapted wonderfully. Equally as impressive is our communities commitment to regular school attendance. As of September 29, DHS Average Daily Attendance is off to a strong start sitting at 96.7%. Let's keep the momentum throughout the school year to reach our goal of reducing our Chronic Absenteeism to under 10%.

Also, a huge thank you to all our families who attended our Back to School Night on September 22. Your partnership is key and we look forward to maintaining communication throughout the school year. If you could not attend, you can view the Back to School Night Presentation here.

Lillian M. (Grade 12) and Adrian P. (Grade 10)

Lily is a natural leader and exemplifies the kind of student any high school would be fortunate to have. She is dependable, compassionate, and consistently willing to support both the Counseling Department and her fellow peers. What makes Lily especially remarkable is that she offers her time and assistance without expectation of recognition or reward; she is genuinely motivated by a desire to help others and make a positive difference in her school community.

Adrian brings bright, positive energy to school every single day. From greeting everyone he passes in the hallways to showing up as an active, dedicated participant in school events and activities, he truly embodies the essence of Husky H.E.A.R.T. His enthusiasm, kindness, and involvement make our entire school community a better, warmer place.

Club Fair

Our Club Fair on September 23 was a resounding success! Students explored dozens of tables and signed up for the clubs and activities that spark their passions. A special shout-out to our fantastic student leaders and club advisors for their incredible hard work and organization in bringing our vibrant school community together. Show your Husky H.E.A.R.T. and get involved!

Pep Rally

The energy at Friday’s pep rally was unmatched! From the band bringing the noise to our cheer team lighting up the floor, DHS showed out in full force on 9/25! Huge shoutout to our MCs for keeping the crowd hyped from start to finish. Nobody brings the spirit quite like the Huskies! 🐾

Guest Speaker- Matthew Bocchi

A huge thank you to the Dumont Police Department (DPD) for collaborating with DHS to host guest speaker Matthew Bocchi on 9/23.

Matt courageously shared his journey from losing his father on 9/11 to his battle with addiction and ultimate path to healing. His story was a powerful reflection of Husky H.E.A.R.T.:

• Help: Asking for support and helping others in need.

• Effort: Putting in the daily work to heal.

• Achieve: Overcoming adversity to grow stronger.

• Respect: Honoring loved ones and respecting yourself.

• Together: Remembering no one has to walk through dark times alone.

Thank you, Matt, for your honesty, strength, and vulnerability, and thank you to DPD for supporting our students!

Laila T. - NMSP Commended Student

Congratulations to Laila T. for being named a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student. Laila's scores placed her among the top 50,000 high school seniors nationwide of more than 1.3 who entered the program.

Sarah Y. - NMSP Semifinalist

Huge congratulations to Sarah on being named a National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist! Out of over 1.2 million students across 20,000 high schools who entered the competition, Sarah earned a spot in an elite group representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. She now advances to the next round for a chance to compete for nearly 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth roughly $24 million awarded next spring. We are incredibly proud of her hard work and dedication.
