Brown Elementary Update

April 10, 2026
A note from the principal
Greetings Brown Families and Caregivers,
Dear Brown School Families,
I hope this letter finds you well as we move into the final stretch before April break! There is so much wonderful learning happening in our building, and I wanted to share some updates about what's ahead.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our parent-teacher conferences are off to a great start, and we look forward to continuing them next Wednesday, April 15th. These conversations are so valuable as we celebrate student growth and discuss how we can continue to support learning at home and at school. If you haven't yet scheduled your conference, please reach out to your child's teacher right away.
MCAS Testing
Our third and fourth graders have completed the ELA MCAS assessment, and I want to commend them on their hard work and focus during testing. They approached the assessment with maturity and determination. Make-up sessions for any students who were absent will take place next week.
March Madness Book Celebration
On Friday, March 17th, we will be hosting our March Madness Book Celebration. Throughout the month, students have been reading books from our specially curated March Madness collection and voting on their favorites. The excitement in the hallways is building as we prepare for the big reveal of this year's winning book! This is such a fun way to celebrate our love of reading together as a school community.
Thank you for your continued support of Brown School. Wishing your families a restful and rejuvenating April break!
Warmly,
Dr. Even
Class Placement Requests for '26-'27 School Year
In May, we will begin the process of assigning students to classes for the '26-'27 school year. We recognize that some families may have compelling information you would like us to consider during the placement process. Please see the attached letter with more information regarding the request process. All requests for consideration must be received no later than May 1st.
PAWSitive Office Referrals
Congratulations to the students who earned PAWSitive office referrals for demonstrating our PAWS core values in the last two weeks: Dani from Ms. Schott's class, Madeline from Ms. Martin's class, Will, Zoey and Nora from Ms. Nguon's class, Ariyah from Ms. Kelleher's class, Gavin, and Riley, Ms. Gagne's class, and Cara from Ms. D'Agnelli's class.
Notes from the Nurse
If your child has illness symptoms:
Please keep your child home and refer to the Reasons To Keep Your Child Home From School guidelines.
Reminder to parents:
Students will be going outside if we are not experiencing severe weather. Please pack appropriately for outdoor play, including boots, coats, snowpants, waterproof gloves/mittens and hats, as well as a change of clothes to be kept in their backpacks in case they get wet while playing.
Hydration:
Please send your child with a water bottle each day. It is important to hydrate even in the colder months!
Also: If anyone has any extra hand-me-down pants that they could contribute to the clinic for “emergency” situations, the nurses would greatly appreciate it!
