Attendance
Attendance is the foundation for student success. When students are present and engaged each day, they build consistent learning habits, stay on track with lessons, and develop strong connections with teachers and peers. Missing school—even just a day or two—can cause gaps in understanding that are harder to fill later. Regular attendance not only supports academic growth but also builds responsibility, perseverance, and life skills that prepare students for the future. Every day in class is a step toward achieving their goals—because every day counts.
Our attandance goal for the year is 95%. To help students want to come there will be surprise attendance days each six weeks along with State Farm Pizza dinner drawing for perfect attendance.
Last Week's Attendance: 95%
PreK - 96%
Kindergarten -95%
1st Grade - 93%
2nd Grade - 94%
3rd Grade - 95%
4th Grade - 96%

Veteran's Day Celebration
Veterans Day Performance, November 11th.
Mustang Families,
You are welcome to attend our Veterans Day event if you are serving in the United States military or have served in the past. You and your student can view the Veterans Day presentation together. We will serve coffee, juice, and doughnuts. To help us get a headcount, please use the link to let us know whether you can attend. To check in at the front desk, you will need to present your identification. We are excited to celebrate our families with military ties. Here is the sign-up link.
Leader In Me
Habit 4: Think Win-Win — Everyone Can Win!
Habit 4: Think Win-Win teaches students to look for solutions where everyone feels valued, respected, and successful. Thinking Win-Win isn't about always getting our way—it means listening to others, considering their needs, and working together to find a solution that works for everyone.
When students Think Win-Win, they build stronger relationships because they learn to communicate, compromise, show kindness, and celebrate the success of others. At school, we encourage our Mustangs to ask, “How can we solve this so we both feel good about the outcome?”
🏠 Practice Habit 4 at Home
🤝 Look for a Win-Win: When siblings or family members disagree, encourage them to come up with a solution that works for everyone.
👂 Listen to both sides: Before solving a problem, give everyone an opportunity to explain what they need and why.
💬 Ask a Win-Win question: Try asking, “What could we do so this works for both of us?”
🔄 Practice compromising: Help children understand that a good solution may require everyone to give a little.
🎉 Celebrate someone else's win: Encourage your child to be happy when a sibling, friend, or teammate succeeds.
❤️ Focus on the relationship: Remind children that being kind, fair, and respectful is more important than simply being “right.”
Family Challenge: The next time your family has a disagreement, don't look for a winner and a loser. Work together to find a solution where everyone can win!
💛🖤 Think Win-Win: When we work together, we all succeed!
Counselor's Corner
We have two fun events this month. Red Ribbon Week and our annual Canned Food Drive to support Harvest House. The classroom with the most food donations gets an Alley Cats gift card for each student. We look forward to supporting our community.

Nurse's Information
Attendance is essential to your child’s success at school! Throughout the year, however, there may be health-related reasons your child should stay home. Please use the following guidelines to help determine when your child should remain home due to illness:
Fever of 100°F or higher within the past 24 hours
Your child must be fever-free for a full 24 hours without fever-reducing medication (such as Tylenol or Motrin) before returning to school.
Vomiting and/or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
Itchy, red eyes with discharge
A rash with fluid or pus until treatment has been received and a doctor’s note states that your child may return to school
Ringworm of the scalp until treatment has started
Head lice — Students may return after appropriate lice treatment. The school nurse will need to check your child’s head before they return to class.
If your student requires medication during the school day, please review and complete the required medication forms here: BISD Medication Forms
To help keep everyone healthy, please encourage your child to wash their hands often, use hand sanitizer, and cover their nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing. Getting plenty of sleep and eating healthy foods—especially breakfast—can also help students stay healthy and ready to learn.
If you are ever unsure whether your student should stay home, please reach out to me for guidance. We share a common goal: the health, safety, and educational success of every student!
We are excited to welcome back visitors onto campus. Thank you for giving us that time to practice our rourtines and procedures to help the school year run smoothly. Just a few reminder:
- Please make sure you bring your ID with you everytime to check into the office. Even if you frequent often, Ms. Almand is required to scan your ID everytime.
- Only people listed as a guardian or emergency contact will be allowed to eat with students.
- You may only eat with your child on the stage.
