Welcome Back Bruins!

I hope you all had a great first week back from break. As we settle into this new quarter, I trust you are feeling refreshed and ready to take on the opportunities ahead. There are many exciting events coming up, and I encourage each of you to get involved, support one another, and make the most of these experiences.

Here are some highlights to mark on your calendar:

  • VAPA Night on January 31 – Come out and celebrate the amazing talents of our Visual and Performing Arts students.

  • Black History Assembly on February 13 – Join us in honoring and celebrating the contributions and achievements of Black Americans.

  • 8th Grade Orientation on February 17 – Let’s welcome our future Bruins and show them what makes our school community so special.

  • LTA Mock Interviews on February 21 – A fantastic opportunity for our students to practice their interview skills and prepare for future career opportunities.

  • International Market and Rally during the week of March 3 – A fun and engaging way to celebrate the diverse cultures within our school community.

Additionally, we have three major college exploration field trips coming up, giving our students a chance to see what possibilities lie ahead for their academic futures.

As we move through this quarter, I want to remind you of this quote: "The only way to achieve the impossible is to believe it is possible." Let's keep pushing toward our goals and supporting one another every step of the way.

Wishing you all a productive and inspiring quarter ahead. Let’s make it a great one, Bruins!

Go Bruins!

Block Schedule Committee MOU Results Block Schedule Committee MOU Results

The Bear Creek High School Block Schedule Committee formed in the 22-23 school year to research new bell schedules that would create more opportunities for our students.

They have spent two years collaborating with other sites in Lodi USD, as well as surrounding high schools in Northern California, to create a schedule that would allow students opportunities to take more classes within the school day than the current six period day allows.

After deliberating and working with staff feedback, they developed a 7 period A/B block schedule that met the state and district requirements. They presented the schedule and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to teachers and voted at the end of November. We had 66% approval for moving to this schedule, but we did not meet the 80% approval needed for this schedule to move forward at this time.
