Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to our Westview families for the wonderful turnout and thoughtful engagement during our recent parent-teacher conferences. This dedicated time for us to collaborate and openly share information about your children's academic progress and personal growth is truly invaluable. A strong partnership between home and school is the foundation for student success, and the insights and goals discussed together will allow us to provide consistent, continuous support as we work toward fulfilling every child's academic and personal potential this year.

E-Bike and Football Game Policy Changes in Effect
Now in Effect:
· All e-bikes equipped with a throttle are prohibited from school campuses.
· All students in grades PreK–6 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend home football games, and remain with them while they are at the game.
These policy updates come in response to a concerning increase in students riding motorized bikes, often disregarding traffic laws, and consequently creating dangerous situations. Unfortunately, last Friday evening during halftime of the home football game, a Troy student was struck by a motorized bike outside the stadium gates. The student who was struck was transported to the hospital for treatment, and thankfully, sustained only minor injuries.
This incident, along with one previous at the end of last school year involving a student riding a motorized bike, has prompted us to revise our bike policy. As the district has communicated at the bottom of these emails the last several messages, and in partnership with our Police Department, e-bikes are not exempt from traffic laws. Riding recklessly, such as cutting through traffic lanes, riding on sidewalks, performing stunts, or failing to yield to pedestrians, is extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated.
Consequently, and going forward, any e-bikes found on campus will be confiscated, students will need to meet with school administration, and parents will be contacted.
Additionally, while we appreciate parental supervision at our football games, please understand that staff and law enforcement officers cannot monitor every area of the stadium at all times. Students should not leave and re-enter the stadium during the game.
Now in Effect:
· Students in grades PreK–6 must sit with their parents in the home stands.
· Students in grades 7 and 8 will remain in the bleachers in the West Endzone.
· Once a student leaves the game area, re-entry will not be permitted.
Thank you for your understanding and your support in ensuring the safety of all students and attendees.

School Bus Safety
Below is information on a poster contest for your child.
___________________________
Fall Parade and Activities - 10-31
Parade - Parade will begin around 9:10 on 10-31. Students will exit the building through the bus doors and walk on the sidewalk around the bus loop and re-enter Westview through the front entrance. Families should stand in the grass or road of the bus loop or front circle entrance creating a clear path for the staff and students to walk on the sidewalk.
Costumes - Students are not required to wear costumes on October 31st, but students that do participate have the following guidelines:
1. Please choose a costume that does not reflect violence. Inappropriate “props” such as plastic swords, guns, knives, and weapons of any kind are not allowed – even if they are a part of your child’s costume.
2. Masks are permitted to be worn. If the mask your child has contains fluid or something that looks like blood to flow through it, do not send the fluid or container with the fluid to school.
3. If possible, students should wear their costume to school to be prepared for the morning parade.
4. All costumes should maintain the integrity of our school dress code.
Food - All food for the classroom events must be prepackaged and in the sealed wrapper with the exception of whole fruit or vegetables.
Students in the afternoon Kindergarten class will follow a schedule provided by the classroom teacher for their activities.
Thank you for following these guidelines to help ensure the safety of all our students.
