A Message from Principal Woofter
We are off to a great start this year! It is amazing how the students are able to fall back into the routines and procedures of school life so quickly.
This week, we had our first Fire Drill and our first Character Trait Assembly. Not only were we able to review expectations and complete our Fire Drill safely, but students then transitioned into our Character Trait Assembly. The Character Trait for September is Mindfulness. Mindfulness is paying close attention to or being aware of yourself and others. Throughout the month in Community Circle, students will be learning more about mindfulness and how it can look in various settings.
Please note, we have updated our Cell Phone/Smart Watch expectations here. These are in line with our middle and high school cell phone policies and Oregon’s Executive Order 25-09; prohibiting cell phone use during the school day. If you need to get a message to your child during the school day, please call the front office and we will make sure the student gets the information.
There are a lot of opportunities and events coming up in September! Make sure to check out our weekly newsletter to get the most current information about what is happening at Archer Glen!
Kindly,
Sarah

New! Student Public Library Card Partnership
We're excited to share that our school is continuing our partnership with the Sherwood Public Library to give students access to more books! By joining this optional program, your child can get a free public library card. With this card, they can borrow books and other materials from any Washington County library. Plus, they can read ebooks and audiobooks right on their school computer using a special app called SORA.
If you would like your child to be part of this program, you can opt-in. We will send an e-signature form to all families via ParentSquare soon. If your child already has a public library card, no action is necessary.
Please note that library cards will be ready to use in January 2026. For more information, see our FAQ.

Arrival and Dismissal
Arrival - Students should arrive at school between 7:45 and 7:55 a.m. Classes begin at 7:55 a.m. Students can use either the Main Entrance or the Activities Entrance to enter the building starting at 7:45 a.m. Students arriving after 7:55 a.m. (tardy) should use the Main Entrance.
Vehicle Drop Off is along the main parking lot sidewalk. Students should exit vehicles from the passenger side. If students need additional assistance exiting the vehicle, vehicles should park in a parking spot so as to not disrupt the flow of traffic in the drop off lane. When exiting the parking lot, vehicles must turn RIGHT only. This also helps keep traffic flowing. There is no student drop off in the bus lane. The bus lane must remain clear of all arrival traffic.
Dismissal - Students are dismissed at 2:15 p.m. from exterior classroom doors. On early release Wednesdays, students are released at 1:15 p.m. K-1 students who are walking home need to be picked up by a chaperone. Grades 1-5 can be picked up in the car line, but Kindergarten students must be picked up from the exterior classroom door. Kindergarten students will not be released to the car line by themselves.
Early Release Wednesdays
As mentioned above, starting September 3rd, each Wednesday will be an early release. All Sherwood schools release one hour early on these days. Early release Wednesdays provide our staff with an important opportunity to collaborate, review student data, and create plans for continued strong instruction throughout the year. We are very grateful for this valuable time, and throughout the year we will be sharing updates of things teachers are working on during their Wednesday collaboration time.

Volunteers
The District will be welcoming volunteers back into our school buildings this year. All volunteers will need to complete and have an approved background check on file prior to volunteering (this must be renewed each school year). The background check process can take 7-10 business days, so please allow sufficient processing time if you are planning to volunteer for a specific event.
HelpCounter Volunteer Information
Our Archer Glen Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is creating an updated email list for school information and other ways to support our school. If you are looking to volunteer at Archer Glen this year, please sign up using the link shared here. If you are new to Archer Glen you will need to create a new login. Past volunteers can use their old sign in. (Please note that this link does not work well on your phone so you will need to use another device).
ALL parents will need to fill out their information again as the system gets updated each fall. The registration will ask some questions about volunteer preferences, please still answer the questions and select all activities you might be interested in learning more about!
You can find out more information about how to sign up for volunteer opportunities at Archer Glen using HelpCounter by visiting Archer Glen PAC's Instagram handle here.
