Dear ELC Families, Dear ELC Families,

We have an important announcement for you!

SUMMER CAMP ANNOUNCEMENT

Adventure Ahead, Let's Explore in the Early Learning Center!

June 10-21 (Registration will be sent out soon)

The FSDB Early Learning Center will host a two-week day camp in June 2024, which will provide a Montessori approach to physical and cultural geography specifically focusing on land and water forms and biomes. Students will research types of environments on Earth and how people have evolved and have adaptions that make habitable in their living environment.

Children will have opportunities to learn through direct, hands-on experience rather than guided learning. This opportunity will help the student develop their own interpretation of their experience from the findings that they absorb. They will gain an understanding of the world around them.

It's hard to believe that March is almost over!

We hope you all had a wonderful spring break with your child. This week went by quickly as we had a couple of events going on. We had a Montessori Night, and it was wonderful to see parents coming to the event. We shared Montessori lessons that they can use at home during the summer. We didn't take any pictures of the families because we were having too much fun together. Thank you all for coming.

Here are some things you can do:

- Have your child write down their favorite food for grocery shopping

- Make a calendar and discuss summer plans with your child

- Count pieces of food to practice their counting skills.

Donuts with the Chief

The FSDB Police kindly invited us to visit their station and discuss safety. We had a great time and enjoyed some delicious donuts with them. The kids were thrilled to see the police bike with sirens on it. We want to express our gratitude to Chief Chandlee, Officer Selim, and Robin for organizing this fun and informative visit.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Montessori Night! We enjoyed some pizza and discussed all things Montessori, and how you can incorporate Montessori into your home as well. We did not take any pictures of the event because we were having so much fun seeing your families and being able to spend one on one time with each of you.

What we've been working on...

Our class has been working on making a shocking discovery! We are learning all about static electricity. The students were very fascinated when you demonstrate static electricity using a balloon and friction on hair. In this picture, our friend Reuben shows how cool it is!

We are still continuing to learn about the United Kingdom. We had a discussion about English Tea Parties, and had a tea party of our very own! The students got to have some tasty scones, tea cookies, and tea!

Birthday Party

We celebrated our friend Liam's birthday on 3/21! We hosted a birthday party and had cupcakes! All of the kids sang Happy Birthday to Liam too!

We have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather!

Our kiddos love spending time outdoors. We took an opportunity to have a picnic outside on one of the days where it was nice and sunny! And when we're on the playground, all of our friends thoroughly enjoy playing with our new Sand & Water table. The children are practicing many skills by scooping, pouring, sorting, and using their imaginations to turn the table into a restaurant, or by setting up the tables and chairs and having a tea party!

Donuts with Officers

Our class got invited to the FSDB Campus Police Station this morning! The students got to have some yummy donuts with Chief Chandlee, got to explore a variety of items including a walkie talkie, an Officer's badge, and even Officer Selim's bicycle! Our kiddos had some really great questions for the Officers. Everyone really enjoyed all of the lights on the bicycle and being able to touch the bicycle, and they even found a secret compartment that Officer Selim explained was for! We want to say thank you so much to everyone who made this event happen today.
