Curriculum Changes for 25-26 Curriculum Changes for 25-26

Great Minds Arts and Letters is the new English Language Arts curriculum for grades K–5 in the Stoughton Area School District. Created by the same company that developed Wit & Wisdom, Arts and Letters is an updated and improved version of the curriculum our students have been using.

  • Builds strong reading, writing, speaking, and thinking skills through rich texts and meaningful discussions.

  • Aligns with Wisconsin standards and supports all learners with integrated grammar, vocabulary, and foundational literacy instruction.

  • Connects classroom learning to real-world topics in science, history, and the arts, helping students see the bigger picture.

Strengthening Literacy with the 95 Phonics Core Program

Next year our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms will use the 95 Phonics Core Program to help students strengthen their reading and spelling skills. This research-based program gives all students—whether they need extra practice or a solid review—daily opportunities to build confidence with more complex words and patterns.

  • Focuses on decoding, spelling, and word recognition through engaging, structured lessons

  • Supports all learners, especially those who benefit from additional phonics practice

  • Complements our core reading instruction and aligns with academic standards
