Rod's Random Thoughts

Happy Monday Hornets!

I hope you all had a great weekend and had a chance to enjoy some Fall weather and some great Seattle sports action. I went to the Husky football game with my daughter Friday night and we spent the 2nd half watching the Mariners' game on one of the tvs in the Husky Stadium concourse. What an emotional baseball game. I may have aged 8 years by the end of the game.

Saturday night we kicked off EHS Homecoming Week with coronation. Our students who are serving as royalty this year did a great job introducing themselves to the community. Thanks to our panel of community judges for selecting the 2025 Homecoming King and Queen. You can find more details below.

This week’s schedule is full of Homecoming activities: dress-up days, the Homecoming Football Game on Thursday against Auburn Mountiainview HS, the Homecoming Assembly, the Homecoming volleyball game against Todd Beamer HS, the downtown parade on Friday and Homecoming soccer game against White River HS, college visits, and the Homecoming dance on Saturday. Students and families, please remember our commitment to safe, substance-free celebrations — plan ahead, look out for one another, and follow the no re-entry policy for the dance to help ensure a positive night for everyone. Juniors and seniors, don’t miss the NACAC college fair field trip on Friday — limited spots remain.

That's all for now. Go Mariners and Go Hornets!

That’s all for now. Let’s make it a great week.

EHS Homecoming - Keeping Students Safe

Homecoming reminders: We're excited for a great homecoming weekend! We are proud that most of our students make safe, healthy choices at school and at these events. We want this to be a fun, joyful, memorable night for everyone! Homecoming, and all school-sponsored events are substance-free and focused on safe celebration. We expect our students to continue to make safe, wise, and healthy choices before, during, and after these events.

Most students choose health! Research and local survey data consistently shows that most young people don't use substances. However, many people think "everyone is doing it," when they are actually not. This means most young people don't want to use substances before, during, or after these events! We encourage you to feel empowered to make healthy choices that align with your values!

Parents, your voice matters! Please talk with your teens about the importance of staying substance-free.

Students, please make a pact with your friends to avoid substance use and make sure no one drives impaired.

  • We (staff, parents, and students) agree to all work together to ensure this will be a positive, healthy, and substance-free space!
  • No re-entry: Please plan your night according to our "no in and out privileges." Once students leave the dance, they are not permitted to return.
  • Support is available! We have a Student Assistance Professional available on campus to provide brief substance use education, screening, and referral services to students impacted by substance use. Please connect with your School Counselor to learn more.
