Greetings from the Principal

HAPPY NEW YEAR Bulldog families!

I hope the holiday break was good to you and your family. We had some great weather and now it looks like Winter is back again! :-(

Report cards for last quarter went home last Thursday. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher to set up a time to discuss your child's progress.

We had a great first 4 days back last week. Students were excited to be back and did a great job a getting back into the school routine. As we begin our third quarter, we want to remind parents how important attendance is. However, we also know that this is peak flu and other illness season, so if your child is running a fever or throwing up, please keep them home. We would rather them stay home and get better rather than risk spreading the illness to others.

This time of year is always one of my favorites in that we really start to see great progress in student academic growth. Students are used to their school routine and really start to retain a lot of what they have been learning over the school year. While we don't assign great amounts of homework, we recommend your child read for 10-20 minutes a night. Students who are in K-2nd should be practicing their red words (reading and spelling) and all students should be practicing their basic math facts. Whether it be addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, we recommend practicing those facts a few minutes throughout the week to help with retaining those facts.

Now that our second iReady testing session is complete, students have been placed on a new learning path based on their Winter iReady test. You may notice the skills they are working on are more challenging, that's what we want and that's a good thing!

As we go into a full week of school this week, the weather is sounding a little uncertain. Hopefully the snow will stay away and we will get a full week of school in. Don't forget we don't have school next Monday, January 19th due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Have a great week!

Respectfully,

Emily Campbell

Principal
