Beard's Bulletin:
We recently held our first Family Fun Night on March 21st ! We had a great time, and I wanted to thank our PTO for putting on that event. Over 200 people were in attendance on a great evening. Thanks for also supporting the World’s Finest Chocolate Drive that was also sponsored by the PTO.
The 2024/25 School year is coming to a close quickly. When we get back from Spring Break there will be two short weeks before testing starts. Make sure students are well supported during testing week that takes place Monday, April 21st through Friday, April 25th (and possibly some make-ups the next week). It is important to get students in bed for plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast, and get to school on time!
Thanks to all for the ways you help support our students at TCE!
Mr. Beard
TCE Principal
The Dish with Mrs. Dills!
As we welcome the month of April, we want to take a moment to reflect on the hard work and dedication that has gone into this school year. With spring in the air, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the progress our students have made and gear up for the exciting opportunities ahead!
Georgia Milestones Testing: April 21-24
We want to give a special shout-out to our 3rd through 5th graders who have worked tirelessly all year. Their dedication and effort are about to shine as they take the Georgia Milestones assessments from April 21st to April 24th. Our teachers have been working diligently to prepare every student for success, and we know they are ready to tackle this important milestone.
To ensure that each student has the best possible opportunity to succeed, please help us by adhering to the following guidelines:
Do not schedule appointments during the testing week: It’s important that students are present each day of testing.
Make sure your child is at school by 7:50 AM: This ensures they have time to settle in and start the day ready to focus.
No early dismissals: Please avoid picking up your child early during testing days to help minimize disruptions.
Breakfast is essential: A nutritious breakfast helps set students up for a successful testing experience. Either ensure your child has a good breakfast at home, or arrive in time for breakfast at school.
We are confident that our students are well-prepared, and with your support, they’ll continue to thrive. Let’s work together to make this a smooth and successful testing week!
Mrs. Dills
TCE Assistant Principal
Mrs. Bridges' our Parent Involvement Coordinator has made a Milestones information document for all parents of 3rd, 4th & 5th graders. Click the image to view the document to learn about all you need to know about preparing and taking the Georgia Milestones. There is a link for students to take online practice exams to get familiar with the Milestones test.
Please don't forget to sign in when you open the document, this just lets Mrs. Bridges' count the number of parents that receive the information for Title 1 documentation. THANK YOU!
Young Georgia Author's Contest
Addie Todd, a third-grader at Tiger Creek Elementary School in Catoosa County, recently submitted a narrative writing to the Young Georgia Author’s contest titled “The Girl and The Dragon.” Addie competed against older students and won first place at the district level. She will move on to compete at the state level. Addie is in Mrs. Eaton's third-grade class. She is pictured with Assistant Principal Jayme Dills.
Way to go Addie, TCE is so proud of you!
Click the Art Showcase to view the students' artwork.
During the Family Fun Night, we had many parents, family members, students and staff members fill out art compliments for our students. On the school day after, we handed out more compliment slips to staff members so that every student would receive at least 1.
Our Parent Involvement Coordinator, Mrs. Bridges, will hold the Spring Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting on Tuesday, April 8th at 10am. All parents are welcome to attend.
Please RSVP to Mrs. Bridges at sbridges.tce@catoosa.k12.ga.us

TCE CIS Coordinator
Mrs. Nancy Pacheco is our school's Communities in School Coordinator. The mission of Communities In Schools is to “surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.” Her role is to achieve our mission at Tiger Creek Elementary which is to provide support services in the following areas of need for students: social, behavioral, academic, attendance and basic needs. One of the ways she is doing that is by running the new Helping Hands Program at TCE. Helping Hands is a student based program where students collect, wash, and store appropriately uneaten fresh produce and unopened food from our cafeteria that students would normally throw away. These food items are then given out to students' families to have.

Mrs. Haynes' Counselor Corner
Mrs. Haynes and Rex remind us that the April Character Word is Cooperation - to work together toward a goal. Rex was the mascot for Mr. Beard, the "Bearded Dragon" at the Arm Wrestle Mania PBIS event! Rex encourages students to cooperate with teachers as we get ready for the Milestones! We can do this together!!
April Character Trait: Cooperation
This month's character trait is Cooperation! Cooperation is the ability to work with others to achieve a shared goal. A student who is cooperative understands the importance of teamwork and is willing to compromise and make sacrifices for the greater good of the group or the project being worked on.
Academic Coach's Minute
3rd-5th graders will be taking Georgia Milestones the week of April 21-24. Here are some things you can do at home to help your child!
1. Prioritize Sleep
Ensure your child gets 9–11 hours of sleep each night.
Set a consistent bedtime and avoid screens at least 30–60 minutes before bed.
2. Fuel with a Healthy Breakfast
Provide protein-rich foods like eggs, yogurt, peanut butter, or oatmeal.
Avoid sugary cereals or heavy meals that could cause energy crashes.
3. Stay Hydrated
Encourage drinking water throughout the day to keep their brain functioning well.
4. Keep Mornings Stress-Free
Prepare clothes, backpacks, and lunch the night before.
Arrive at school on time to avoid rushing and anxiety.
5. Encourage a Positive Mindset
Remind them that tests are just one way to show what they know.
Avoid adding pressure—praise their effort, not just their scores.
6. Teach Relaxation Techniques
Practice deep breathing or counting to ten if they feel nervous.
Encourage stretching or light exercise in the morning to reduce stress.
7. Remind Them to Follow Directions
Encourage them to listen carefully to instructions and read questions thoroughly.
Teach them to double-check their work if they have extra time.
8. Celebrate Their Hard Work
Plan a small reward after testing (e.g., a fun activity, special meal, or extra playtime).
Reinforce that their value is not determined by a test score!

Officer Holli's Safety Minute
Hello Parents, Students and Staff!
I can hardly believe we are in the home stretch of wrapping this year up. As part of our continuous efforts to ensure the safety of the students, staff, and visitors, we would like to remind everyone the importance of pedestrian safety within the school zone. With increased activities around the school entrances and nearby streets, it is crucial that we work together to maintain the safety of everyone!
1-Parking and Drop off Areas- Avoid double parking or stopping in non designated areas. When parking please do not obstruct any sidewalks or crosswalks, as it could be hazardous to pedestrians.
2-Speed Limits and Safety Signs: Please obey all speed limits within the school zone, particularly during school arrival and dismissal times. The school speed limit is posted and these limits are strictly being enforced.
3-Stay Alert-Drivers should be vigilant and watch for pedestrians as well as the Deputy conducting traffic during high traffic times. Please avoid any distractions , make eye contact and obey commands by the Safety Officer before accelerating.
We greatly appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping us make our school zone a safe environment for ALL! Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Deputy Fields. Thank you for your continued support!
Officer Holli
PLEASE REMEMBER:
You must have your ID to enter the building.

Notes from the Nurse
We are what we eat...Superfoods for superkids!! Not only will washing your hands with soap and water for 30 seconds help keep germs and viruses controlled so you don’t get sick, but did you know that eating "superfoods" can also help our bodies stay healthy too?
There are "superfoods", like fruits and vegetables that contain antioxidants that are able to fight infection and some diseases. Like washing your hands everyday, eating some of these food everyday can help keep our bodies healthy as well.
Among these foods are oranges, brussel sprouts, butternut squash, avocados and blueberries. The sprouts and squash can be roasted in the oven or the berries added to yogurt. You can squeeze an orange onto a piece of chicken or fish for extra zest or add avocado slices to a sandwich. Healthy eating is just one of the ways we can stay healthy.
Healthy lifestyle includes eating fruits and vegetables, drinking water instead of sugary drinks and staying active by moving your body. Let's stay healthy so we can enjoy this beautiful spring weather!

I will be sharing the survey results at the Spring PAC Meeting, at the April LSGT Meeting and on the school website.
