AWARD CEREMONY HIGHLIGHTS

FBMS MUSIC STUDENTS FIELD TRIP

Our music students visited Canobie lake Park this week as a reward for their dedication to music and performing. We celebrate the arts and feel they play a very important role in child and adolescent development. Thank you, parents, for supporting our music programs, and thank you to the teachers who organized and provided this trip, Mr. Kaminski, Mr. Brenner, Mrs. DiRoberts, and Mrs. Fontaine.

A NOTE FROM OUR PROJECT 351 AMBASSADOR NICK ROHT

Last weekend, our Project 351 Ambassador, 8th Grader Nicolas Roht, attended a final Project 351 event at Gillette Stadium. All current Massachusetts ambassadors will be invited to stay on with the Project 351 organization as alumni in 2025. Nicolas wanted to provide some final thoughts to the FBMS Community as he wrapped up a year of community service:

“After an amazing 6 months of community service projects, partnerships, and district-wide initiatives, WE have been able to successfully impact the lives of many across Massachusetts. From Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” project to the “Spread the Word to End the Word” campaign--from Cradles to Crayons and to thousands of dollars of school supply donations---I cannot begin to express my gratitude to all of the FBMS students and Marshfield community. With the help of educators, staff, and my peers, I am glad to say that there have been a total of 7,034 lives positively impacted and/or influenced by our work, none of which would have been possible without the support of you all.

A special thank you to the 351 team in Marshfield, Georgia C, Abigail L, Brett M., Tim M. and Cameron W. for their hard work. I would also like to thank the Marshfield Boys and Girls Club for helping us donate 1,500 school supply kits to a recreational summer camp that helps children in the Boston and Cambridge area known as Phillips Brook House Association. So to this end, let’s continue to lead positive change together, not just through high school but beyond. There are two major service projects scheduled next year, and I can’t wait to see what we can do in the future.

Thanks again,

Nick Roht"

Thank you, Nick, for leading positive change in and beyond our school. We are so proud of the work you had done as our Project 351 Ambassador this year!

Need a job?

The Marshfield School District currently has many positions open, including positions at our school! Come be part of our team! Check them out here!

Grade 7 STEM

Students in Mrs. Shanahan-Belisle's Grade 7 STEM Class tested the houses they built for their "Kiribati Tiny House Project." Students were challenged to build a house that could withstand both rising sea levels and the large waves from storms. They were provided with several choice materials to utilize. Our students understand that they need to be responsible and smart citizens when it comes to addressing the climate issues and changes we are facing in our world. Well done!

Grade 7 Science

On June 6th, Chris Hitchener from the Mass Audubon Society, in partnership with the Duxbury Beach Reservation, provided a fully-funded educational program for all Sharks Cluster students. Chris introduced the students to the endangered Piping Plover population and the conservation efforts to protect them and the local barrier beach habitat in Duxbury. Students explored the ecosystem, biodiversity, competition for resources, and migration issues, connecting the hands-on activities with their classroom unit on ecosystem dynamics. A big thank you to science teacher Mr. Gaffoor for partnering with the Audubon Society and organizing this event!

Grade 8 Math

Students in Ms. Corrick's Grade 8 Math class worked on learning the quadratic formula. Is summer around the corner? We will keep working up until the final day!

Specialty Library Passes

Students who hold special passes to visit the library and who work with Mrs. Deluca in the library played "Percy Jackson Capture the Flag" this week. Team Iris won the first game, and Team Nike the second -by capturing the flag, but Team Aphrodite had the highest points score. Students who love reading love heading to our library and spending time there. Thank you to Mrs. Deluca for offering the library programs and adding your creative touch to everything library and reading related!
