Patriot Family Gazette 11/15/24

Patriot Families,

Thank you to everyone that joined us this week at Spring Creek BBQ for our annual spirit night. We are so thankful for these first few months of school and can't believe that we only have one more week before our Thanksgiving Break. It has been such a rewarding semester and we continue to strive each day to make an impact and invest in each and every child here at Jack. Next week we have several grade levels celebrating Friendsgiving here at school with their feasts. We hope you can join us. In the season, feel free to drop a quick note to all of your child's teachers, send a quick email, as we are so grateful for our educators and the families we get to partner with each and every day.

Also please see below for an opportunity to help sponsor our first ever Jack Giving Tree. We are collecting interest for families that would like to sponsor another Jack student because we would love to make sure ALL families in our school have a special holiday season.

No child should wake up on Christmas morning and find no gifts under the tree. We would love to make sure ALL families in our school have a special holiday season. We need help from our Patriot families...past and present! This is a great way for families to come together and practice GIVING. You can even bring in multiple friends and families to help you provide gifts!

Please clink the link below and fill in the information if you are interested in helping sponsor a child/family. The donating family's name will be displayed on a star and placed on the Jack Patriot Giving Tree. (There is an option to remain anonymous if you so choose.)

- Please drop off by 7:50. Our tardy bell rings at that time and we want our Patriots ready to learn with us.

- We cannot release kids after 2:45 due to dismissal procedures. If you have appointments, please make arrangements to pick up by this time.

- If you are dropping off before 7:15, please use the back loop. This area is staffed and students are directed to the cafe or gym. After 7:15, our front loop will be open.

Parents and Friends:

Our number one priority is the safety of the 700 plus students who attend Jack Elementary. During pickup and drop off times the safety of ALL our students should be in the forefront of our minds. As a reminder, the Texas Transportation Code Sec. 545.425 and 545.4251 Prohibits the use of a Wireless Communication Device in a School Zone unless the vehicle is stopped or the wireless communication device is used with a “hands-free Device”. This means the cell phone can not be in your hands while your vehicle is moving. This also includes “texting while driving”. School Zones include Blue Mountain Blvd beyond the yellow flashing school zone sign as well as the streets which border the school including Manassas Ln., Rocky Mountain Lane, Rockpoint Ln., Balsam Gap, and of course the school zone on Cumberland Road. We also ask that you reduce your speed and be increasingly aware while moving through the pickup and drop off lines in the front drive, the bus loop, as well as the surrounding streets. We have observed some parents operating at unsafe speeds in these areas.

In addition, the City of Tyler has prohibited left turns onto Manassas Ln. from the front drive during school days between the hours of 7:00 am-8:30 am and 2:30 pm-4:00 pm as per the signs posted and when the left turn only lane is blocked off. It only takes a few extra moments to circle the block. These signs and restrictions were put into place for the safety of YOUR children.

Thank you for your partnership in our continued efforts to receive each child safely at the beginning of the day and return them to you safely at the end of each day.
