Head Cheetah's Message

Dear Families,

This week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to the PTO, and to all of the students and families who went out of their way to recognize and celebrate our educators. We really are so lucky to have such an amazing school community. In addition to Teacher Appreciation Week, Wednesday was also School Nurse Appreciation Day. Our health office staff works to keep our building healthy and safe every day, and we are so thankful!

And while we’re busy saying “thanks”, let’s not forget all of the moms and caregivers! Sunday is Mother’s Day. If you are a mom, a step-mom, or are serving in a caregiver role…. we appreciate you, and we hope your weekend is filled with all the things that bring you joy!

With appreciation for your partnership,

Joey & Andrea

May Mathematicians Are Estimating May Mathematicians Are Estimating

What is May Mathematicians?

During the Month of May over morning announcements we will be focusing on math. Every day there will be a math problem read aloud and shown in class to students that is directed towards a certain grade.

Mondays: Kindergarten

Tuesdays: First Grade

Wednesdays: Second Grade

Thursdays: Third Grade

Fridays: Whole Building Estimation

Students will have the opportunity to answer the math questions on a piece of paper and then the pieces of paper will be put into bins in the front lobby of the school.

On Monday announcements (May 9, 16. 23, 31) winners will be named and those students will be able to come to the office to get a math pencil. We will pick two students per grade who have gotten the math problem correct and one student who is closest (or correct) for the estimation jar.

Music News

Dear Grade 3 Families,

On May 11th, third grade students will participate in an “Instrument Petting Zoo” during the school day! Ms. Gould (Center School Music Teacher) and I, along with some high school student visitors, will demonstrate the various band instrument choices for fourth graders! Students will experience the sights and sounds of the instruments and get a chance to hold each instrument. They will get to ask questions and find out why playing each instrument might be a good choice for them! Although they won’t get a chance to play the instruments, we hope that holding and listening to each one will inspire our third graders and help them decide whether they might like to be in band next year! Students will come home with an idea of which instrument was most interesting to them, as well as details about how you can help them get signed up for fourth grade band lessons!

Following this event, Ms. Gould will host Band Sign Up Night on 5/16 at 6:30 PM in the Center School gym. At this event, you will learn about the band program and will find out how to get your student an instrument! Please direct any questions to Ms. Gould at egould@easthamptonct.org.

Thank you for continuing to support your student’s musical growth!
