At the State Board of Education meeting in January, a presentation was given on the Missouri Teacher Workforce. As a part of that presentation, the State Board of Education members engaged in a significant amount of discussion around the challenges with recruiting and retaining teachers.

State Board of Education members expressed their interest in reviewing data specific to these challenges in Missouri. MoASSP is partnering with the Office of Educator Quality at DESE to collect information directly from Missouri educators about the particular challenges we have with recruiting and retaining teachers in our state.

As Doug and I travel the state, we are hearing from principals the same concerns and challenges. Your principal voice is essential as we share feedback with DESE officials.
