Board BriefNovember 7, 2024

Capital Improvement Project Capital Improvement Project

We would like to thank our community for their support of the millage request, which appeared on the ballot in the most recent election. Though we fell short of the votes needed, we appreciate everyone for inviting us to your neighborhood meetings and places of worship to allow us to discuss the three priorities of the district:

  • Building a brand new middle school campus
  • Renovating Ole Main
  • Building an indoor sports complex

Mr. Brian Brown, the Chief Financial Officer, discussed the district's plan to have the request on the ballot during a special election, which will take place in May 2025. The partnership funds from the state would provide $20.8 million to the cost of the construction. However, in order to receive the funds, the district has to have the support of the community to complete the project. If not, the money will go back to the state, and it could take years to be considered again for partnership funding.

The estimated cost to build a brand new middle school is $68 million.

Please be on the lookout for more communication regarding the millage.
