Term 3 Week 5 2026
Prayer
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Loving God,
We thank You for the children who have completed their Sacrament journey this year. Through the gifts of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation, may they continue to grow in faith, hope and love.
Bless their families, teachers and parish community who have guided and supported them along the way. As we move through Term 3, help us all to live as witnesses of Your love, showing kindness, compassion and courage in our daily lives.
May the grace received through these Sacraments continue to strengthen our hearts and draw us closer to You.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Our Vision and Values
From Mr Will
Dear Community Members,
Halfway Through Term 3 Already!
I can't believe we are already halfway through Term 3! As always, the weeks seem to be flying by, and there is so much happening across our wonderful school community.
Week 5
The Catholic Performing Arts Festival is well underway, and we have already seen many outstanding individual performances from our students, who have greatly impressed the judges with their talent, confidence and dedication. This Friday, we look forward to welcoming our Electric Spirits, CPAF Choir and vocal soloists as they perform at our school assembly.
The excitement doesn't stop there. On Friday evening, the Electric Spirits will take to the stage at Sacred Heart College, while at the very same time our choir will be performing at the One Big Voice Concert at RAC Arena. What a night for Holy Spirit! We are incredibly proud of all our performers and grateful to the staff and families who support them.
Week 6
Next week we celebrate Book Week, with this year's theme, "2026: A Symphony of Stories." Mrs Wilmot has been busily preparing a range of fun and engaging activities for our students. Please make sure you keep Wednesday 26 August free for our annual Book Week Parade. I can't wait to see the creativity, imagination and enthusiasm of our children on display.
We will also finish next week with our Guild Athletics Carnival, one of the highlights of the school year. It is always a wonderful celebration of the many gifts and talents of our students, showcasing not only athletic ability but also teamwork, perseverance and school spirit.
The Formative Journey
As I reflect on these events, I am reminded of the incredible journey that is primary school. From three years old in Pre-Kindergarten through to Year 6, children experience the vast majority of their formative development. It is a journey filled with growth, discovery, success and challenge. Importantly, it is rarely a linear progression. There are peaks and troughs, moments of confidence and moments of struggle.
Having spent more than 20 years in education, I have seen time and again that these peaks and troughs are navigated far more successfully when schools and families journey together. One of my favourite quotes comes from Ted Lasso (which, to my delight, has a new season out): "Be curious, not judgemental." It hangs on my wall and is something I return to often. When we approach our children, each other and life's challenges with curiosity rather than judgement, we create the conditions for growth, understanding and success.
If I can leave you with one thought, it is this: the purpose of primary school is not simply about reaching a destination. The real value lies in the journey itself. It is through the experiences, relationships, challenges and triumphs along the way that children develop the self-belief, resilience and character needed to navigate the many opportunities and challenges that life will present.
As always, thank you for partnering with us on this journey.
Until next time,
Ben
From Mrs Martinovich
With the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation last week, our 2026 Sacramental Program has now concluded.
We sincerely thank Fr Emmanuel, Cathy, and the Sacramental Team for their dedication and commitment in supporting our students throughout their sacramental journey. Their efforts have helped make this year’s program a meaningful and enriching experience.
We also thank our parents and staff for their ongoing support and partnership. Your encouragement has played an important role in the success of the program and in nurturing the faith development of our students. Congratulations to all students who participated in this year’s Sacramental Program.
After School Play Junior Primary Playground
We are fortunate that children can enjoy playing together on the playgrounds after school. This is a valued part of life at Holy Spirit, and we are keen for it to continue, especially as the weather warms up.
Recently, we have received reports of unsafe play, children using the Junior Primary playground without active adult supervision, and damage to equipment. To help keep all children safe and ensure the playground remains available after school, we ask that parents and carers actively supervise their children at all times.
Your support in encouraging safe and respectful use of the playground is greatly appreciated.
