Hopewell Staff Update

Prior to several upcoming townhall meetings, please revisit the Townhall/Assembly expectations with your class (it is located on the Hopewell Hub).

First Town Hall Meeting 2:15-2:40 Grades 3-5 and Crabtree. 2:50-3:15 Grades K-2

Tuesday, Sept 5th

Elec Simon All School Assembly in the gym 2:00 pm - 2:40 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept 20th

Tae Kwon Do All School Assembly in the gym 3:00-3:20 p.m. (Please have the students pack up to go home before the assembly in case it runs long).

Thursday, Sept 21st

Wednesday 8/30 at arrival-- students will be a few minutes late to class.

Throughout the district we will be shifting to an in-person curriculum night again for families. We will be holding our curriculum night on Thursday, Sept 7th from 6-6:45 p.m. Please include the video below about changes in the grade card to your curriculum presentation. Thanks!

Just a reminder that grade levels will be meeting to transition MTSS (RTI/PBIS) plans on Wednesday. This is an opportunity for teachers to share strategies and information that will best support the student. These are informal conversations that will not be formally facilitated (think speed dating structure).

* Current classroom teachers should bring their “On your radar” RtI sheets to know which students to touch base on.

* Previous years’ teachers can jot down and bring any specific notes they want to relay to the current teacher about supports/interventions that were successful on the plans that are continuing.

* Reading support, intervention- can attend meetings of grade levels to share info

Although House Bill 33 provides language around the elimination of one of the administrations of Grade 3 ELA state assessments, ODE/DEW is not eliminating the fall administration. All third grade students will participate in the ELA Gr 3 OST in the fall (October) and spring (April).

Summer Phonics PD for 4th/5th Grade Staff

Our DEA negotiated agreement includes an option to use some personal “flex” PD time in place of attending the district-led PD/Work Day scheduled for October of each year. CLICK HERE for instructions and ‘rules’ for this day.

The following trainings are optional for any staff member who wants to practice the other assessments of Dibels that were not covered in the first meeting:

K/1st: Tuesday 8/29 at 8:15 in Crabtree's room

2nd/3rd: Thursday 8/31 at 8:15 in Moreland's room

Grade level meeting Schedule

We are keeping Wednesdays free of IEP meetings so that grade levels can meet during this time. Susann and Sarah will be meeting with grade levels on a rotating basis on Wednesdays.

Please feel free to add agenda items to the grade level's agenda (sorted by grade level tabs).

Support staff should pick a grade level to attend.

At the elementary level across the district we will be shifting to a standards based report card. Here is a district video link from Lori Marple that explains it in more detail. I would encourage you to show this on Parent Information Night.

Please plan on attending an all staff meeting from 4-5 p.m. on Sept 11th in the library. Dr. M will be sharing very important levy information so all staff are asked to please attend. Thanks!

Support staff- on the weeks it is not your assigned PM duty, we ask you to please be present in the hallway to monitor and support a safe dismissal process.

Our weekly meeting schedule for the year will be as follows:

1st Tuesday of the Month: Staff meeting

2nd Tuesday of the Month: Building Leadership Teams

3rd Tuesday of the Month: Grade level RTI check ins with coaches

4th Tuesday of the Month: Sped Team meeting

Wednesday Grade level collaboration time

Susann and Sarah will continue to meet with grade levels on Wednesdays on a rotating basis. We will send the meeting calendar soon.

We are continuing to add important dates to this calendar and will add it to the Hopewell Hub when it is finalized.
